I'm not trying to be hard on people who struggle with maths. I'm just pointing out that we have a problem with numeracy skills in this country- and employers will confirm this. Shops also take advantage of it with their pricing policies.
factor, that's interesting, trying to teach maths through real life situations like phone contracts. Sooo much better than the bath full of water which leaks at 2 gallons per hour....
Factor I agree re the shop thingy..ASDA here offered special saver buy of 2 bottles of Irn Brue for £2.25...but they were only £1.05 each ????....worst thing..people were buying them !
True Headwreck. As terrible as i am at maths my job is book-keeping. I manage the comoany accounts. And its a piece of p1ss because i have a system that does all the working out for me, all i need to do it put the numbers in.
I also blame computers for an increase in poor spelling. It fixes words automatically so you dont have to think about it anymore.
