should this be in TV, don't know, but does anyone have a problem paying for their TV Licence. I have tried 8 paypoint outlets, as you can't pay at the post office now, and not one would accept payment by debit card, they all said cash only. I Don't want to pay by direct debit, nor pay on line. So it's a case of the cheques in the post. Why don't they accept debit cards, after all it says so on the licence renewal form. I am seriously miffed.

What's your problem with paying on line or by direct debit?
I am sure the butler would be able to help you with that.
Any way how are you?

You can pay anywhere that has PayPoint, just take your bill, or the bit that has the bar code on into it, and voila.
Why do you not want to pay by direct debit...........it doesn't cost anymore and it's one less thing to remember.
Do you have a credit card em? I pay mine over the 'phone.
I agree with Boo,most newsagents have paypoint,so should help you

Boo that was my point, i did take the bill, ready to pay, but they only take cash, who walks around with that kind of money in their pocket, i certainly don't. One guy said that if i paid by debit card he would charge me an extra 4 quid for the privilege, daylight robbery.
Kick up stink with paypoint.

I've a local shop who will accept debit/credit cards for paying all sorts of bills, however he charges 30p. Fair do's as he also gets charged by his bank.
Thanks for the reminder em. I pay £7.00 a year for mine as I live in sheltered housing and just realised it was due in July. No one has asked for it though. Perhaps I better remind them, or maybe not?
Take it the local co op, we don't charge for using a debit card.

But incidentally, yes ive walked around with that amount of cash if i'd just drawn it from point A and was going straight to point B to pay something.

alba i will, i am pretty annoyed to be honest, because when you paid through the post office, its one transaction, good to go, as to being asked to pay an extra 4 quid, the air almost turned a shade of blue.
I've paid mine on debit card in many different towns, most charge 50p now, but one didn't 2 weeks ago-do what alba says-I've never been refused.

Boo, no its too dodgy, its a 15 minute walk to bank and to nearest paypoint, and sorry ive been mugged before, don't fancy that again.
I once had a rational chat with pay-point, very nice lady who was horrified by my tale of woe. The shop in question changed its name a week later.
Question Author
8 shops, pay point outlets and all refused, stating cash only, and whether anything comes of it, i have e mailed paypoint.
let us know how it goes Em x
Well to be blunt, there are plenty of options available for you to pay your licence by, its just a matter of you can't or won't pay by them for whatever reason.

Can't see that kicking up a fuss with paypoint will get you anywhere, and in the meantime your licence remains unpaid.
Makes no mention of a charge there. I pay mine online and is very simple to do.

Question Author
Boo, its not a question of not paying, but the renewal letter that came from TV Licence, says when and how to pay, by cash or debit card, i have done it before, but not one shop i have tried now does it. So i will send them a cheque.
Question Author
Eddie, yes, i don't like direct debit, and nor paying for goods online. well it will get sorted, just later than i expected.
