I have been repaying 2 debts under a voluntary arrangement (VA) for 9 years. I had to enter the VA following a significant change in my circs. It will be another 9years before the debts are written off. If I had of declared myself bankrupt or taken out an IVA, I would be well clear of the debts now and my creditors would not have received as much back.
Is it worth approaching the credit companies, Midland Cards and Capital Bank subsidiaries of HSBC and Bank of Scotland, to write off the balance of the debts. The irony my credit file is now clear, and both organisations have gladly provided me credit cards and loans since which I have successfully managed and maintained.
