Hi Folks!! Can anyone tell me whether or not, in UK, euros are accepted as legal tender as well as pounds? That is, can you, say, buy a shirt in Manchester or dine in a restaurant in Cheltenham, or whatever, and pay your account in euros?

Thanks

Not generally accepted, but I think some companies, eg Marks and Spencers may accept them.

The Euro is not legal tender in the UK, however, when it came out, many big companies decided to accept it. Caused a few problems initially with the exchange rates - such as a coffee costing 80 if you paid in Euros!!

I think there are less places now than origianlly that will accept it as payment, though you're likely to find more places in areas close to ports.
