If you unexpectedly had 25K coming your way in the next few weeks, what would you do with it? New car, though current one fine; toy boy; under the mattress; AB Relief Fund?
Any suggestions welcome.
Not a bank with their derisory rates, please.

Premium bonds.........

Seriously, Sqad? Sounds not a bad idea and one I had never thought of.
pay off any outstanding debts, book a holiday, a few treats for the nearest and dearest, then stash the rest for emergencies/special occasions

is £25k coming your way?
Pay off debts, consider paying a bit off the mortgage, lock it away for the future.
anne....seriously....deposit rates are not worth considering....if you have any debts, then as the lovely sara says......pay them off, but premium bonds will give you a bit of excitement every month..........probably the only excitement that you get every month..;-)
Give away quite a lot of it. 5K each to my son and daughter, 1K each to my three grandsons, 2K to the local charity St. Peter's Hospice, 2K to the MacMillan Nurses and 3K divided among my friends. That would leave 5K for me, and that will do me nicely thank you. But then, it is never likely to happen, so I can dream away.

No debts, TG. No mortgage, fed up (!) travelling - been there, done it. Thought of a small educational bursary or similar. After watching the programme on how international aid went wrong, I'm not inclined to donate to a major charity.
no toy boy, he will run off with someone else and the money, no to the bank as they are the modern equivalent of Robin Hood without the scruples of giving to the poor. You don't need a new motor, so how about a nice far away holiday, particularly from our dreary weather, Australia perhaps, or New Zealand, mind the bugs though, they do bite.
give a few quid to nice elderly relatives, keep em sweet in case they leave you something in their will, how mercenary i hear you say, ha ha

Put some of the money into premium bonds, invest a tenner on the Euro lottery and hope your numbers come up.
I'd use it to pay off some of my mortgage. That would reduce my monthly outgoings and save a bit of money.

You presume too much. I check my Ibuprofen share portfolio regularly, thanks to you.
give some to a local hospice, particularly for children, they deserve some nice things don't you think?
pay off debts and put towards deposit for a house.....nothing else.
anne...LOL
pay off the bits I owe then put the rest towards an OU course. You can never stop learning!
Premium Bonds every time. Can't remember the last time we failed to get a couple of £25 wins each month........never had a big wind but the constant flow of small ones soon add up.
my brother and his wife inherited £30k last year. they have pissed it up the wall and still live in rented accommodation. they did move to a bigger property, but all they did was kick their 2 elderly cats out into the garden (i assume their new landlord has a no pet rule). i'm glad i live 100 miles away, or i would probably lumped the pair of them. he's always been a useless, lazy sod.....(favourite golden boy). and his wife is workshy. she is a stay at home mum, and their house is disgustingly unclean. rant over.
Home improvements? a loft conversion or a conservatory perhaps? It would add value to your property in the long run and more than likely pay for it-self. If you didn't fancy the mess, you could always book yourself into a nice little hotel somewhere for the duration
McM, if you had a big wind, suggest cutting back on the brussels sprouts.
pay off debts and look for somewhere to buy.
LJ, depends on the debts, but 25k won't go far..
