I had the most awful nightmare during the night. To date its probably the worst one I've ever had. Is it true that eating late at night can cause your subconscience to do weird things?

Hi Sachs, not anything that I can't handle. I have been quite happy of late actually. Not sure what it could be but I did eat a piece of chicken breast around 11. I had another nightmare a few nights ago and that was bad enough but last nights one was awful :o( x
Were you eating jelly babies, tiggs? They have been known to cause a guilt complex.
Question Author
Well I certainly haven't been eating mushrooms lately.

I don't eat sugary sweets Goury. I don't think I've done anything to be feeling guilty about though. I think!
When you go to bed, your body wants to shut down and rest.

If you eat late, your digestion kicks in again, so your system doesn't properly shut down.

It's this internal activity that causes nightmares ...

... but only in some people. I quite often chow down on pasta late at night.

Tip 1 ... the faster your metabolism, the faster you will burn up your food, and so your body can rest. If you have done exercise during the day, your metabolism will be running quicker, so you might get away with it.

Tip 2 ... avoid things that take a long time to digest, espacially dairy products, which tend to line the stomach and slow down your digestion. The worst late night snack? ... cheese !!

Question Author
Ah yes the dreaded late night cheese effect. I've had a couple of those in the past.

I think I will definitely keep away from late night eating of the festive period although I did go a bit mad earlier when I went to Sainsbury's and bought their half price Ben & Jerry's! gulp
I had a nightmare the other night. I dreamt I was crawling behind a hedge (army style) trying to hide but got shot when I stood up to try and run away!

Who did you kill?
They're not nice at all but I don't really eat late at night. I have all kinds of weird dreams and grind my teeth at night so end up with a sore jaw in the morning.
Oooh ... Ben & Jerry's is on half price offer ?

Gets her coat ...
