2 years ago I had terrible lower back pain after spending 11 hours shovelling gravel - I was off work for 3 months and had accupuncture and physiotherapy which did nothing for me. After 8 weeks of no improvement i went to an osteopath and wow, the improvement was immediate and it got me back on my feet straight away. Ever since whenever i get any pain in my back i go back to the osteopath and it is cured in less than 3 sessions.
Acupuncture did nothing for my migraines x
I had acupuncture to stop smoking about 25 years ago and it worked!! 4 pks of marlboro red a day to 0 in one 30 min session. I think it depends on your acupuncturist. I didn't smoke again for 9 years, but the next acupuncturist was terrible and didn't work.
I am sure it is down to the 'accupuncturist' and how they are able to convince you the treatment works. Psychologically there is a huge benefit to all treatments be them alternative therapy or traditional. Multiple trials have been held using placebo's i.e. a tablet with no drugs included; yet multiple patients report their symptoms have reduced with the treatment. I support any kind of treatment that may, psychologically or physically, reduce symptoms and pain.
