A male friend, with whom I'm very close but not intimate, has just had a one-night stand with a woman, unprotected. Now he's discovered a few tiny spots in a small close cluster on his willie. There is no discharge or any other signs of a rash. I've been telling him to get it seen to, but he's scared. So he's asked me to ask: how likely is this to be an STD? Is there anything he can do at home to get shot of the spots? If he goes to a GP, is that GP only going to send him to an STD clinic? How likely is he to be prescribed pills (because he hates taking pills as they often make him nauseous)? Any serious responses welcomed. And, yes, he knows he should have wrapped up and promises to do so in future.

he obviously has something that isn't going to get better all by itself.

he has two choices.. get it treated or let it fester!
The best thing he can do is get himself along to the local GUM clinic, it'll be in the phone book or on the internet under his local primary care trust. It can be anonymous then if he wants. The GP certainly can deal with things like this but will refer him if it's more complicated - and the longer your mate leaves it a) he'll get more worried and b) it could get worse. Does he still have contact with the woman? - because if it is an STD, she'll need to get checked out too, or risk passing it on (and that applies to both of them). Tell him not to be embarrassed, the medics and nurses will have seen it all before - but tell him not to hang about either.
Ah so this isnt a thread about desserts??

Go the STD clinic, its better than worrying - could be nothing or if an STD it could get worse if not treated. I have had check-ups and its bloody embarrasing but you cant be too careful these days
What is the time span between unprotected sex and the onset of penile lesions?
chirpy, not being funny but you'd have got some more serious responses if you hadn't made this sound like a dessert. As it is, you'd get the foodies answering!
I must admit that I also thought it was a recipe for Spotted Dick. That was what caught my eye in the first place. Having said that he should get off to the clinic or his gp as soon as possible or risk it getting worse or passing it on to other sexual partners.
Is his name Sandyroe by any chance as he has one night stands on a Thursday !! lol
These answers are based on the assumption that the lesions are not itching, or leaking fluid.

<<<how likely is this to be an STD?<<< very, very unlikely.

<<<<Is there anything he can do at home to get shot of the spots?<<<< no

<<<<<If he goes to a GP, is that GP only going to send him to an STD clinic?<<< very unlikely.

If it was me..........I would leave well alone.

They are almost certainly Fordyce Spots which are harmless.
My God Chirpy, you are close if you can talk about such things!

Very nice with a ladle full of custard....mmmmmm
I'm wih Sqad on this one. They do indeed sound like Fordyce Spots. Visit your GP in preference to the GUM Clinic if you're really concerned.
I picked up a disease from using a telephone once. Apparently I got it from using the wrong STD code!
So he's been messing with Brucie then!
Ahem, gran - Fordyce not Forsythe!
still funny though gran..........lol
Oh yes sorry - Fordyce didn't read it properly. He was a bit old anyway.
