Natural yoghurt

I had to go to the hospital because of persistent cystitis. I had all the tests to see if there was any underlying cause and thank goodness there wasn't. However, to try to get rid of it the professor advised several different things as well as some medication, one of which was to eat a portion of natural yoghurt every day. I do not like natural yoghurt but have persisted with the treatment because obviously I want to get rid of the cystitis. I have tried putting fruit (sliced bananas or grapes) with it but still find it very difficult to eat. Does anyone know of a natural yoghurt that has a nice taste to it? It has to be natural, not the other stuff. Hope someone can help as I feel sick whenever I try to eat it. I know it sounds trivial, but I really need to do something about it. Thanks in anticipation.

Try TOTAL Greek yoghurt with honey...it's creamy and rich.
You need live yoghurt, whoever makes it and added fruit make it delicious
you could try buying an easy yo set and making your own...its very nice. Did the prof say why he suggested natural yoghurt?
Is there a product that is an "artificial yoghurt"?
in what respect artificial?
Not natural.

The post (and yoghurt manufacturers in general ) refer to "natural yoghurt".

I was just wondering if there was one that wasn't natural.

Don't really know the answer to either question. He also advised me to drink two glasses of cranberry juice each day, which is o.k. because I like it. and this portion of "natural" yoghurt. I spoon out 5 dessertsponfuls but all thetime I am eating it, if you will excuse the expression, I am heaving and my stomach is churning against it. It tastes very sour. The treatment on the whole appears to be working so I want to go on with it. If only l could find a way to make it pleasant. Thanks everyone for your prompt help. I've tried putting fruit in but it spoils the fruit if anything. I'm going to try each suggestion in turn until I find something. Pasta I shall try your honey one first. I thought I might eventually develop a taste for it, like I did for tea without sugar - can't drink it with now but I've been eating it for a couple of months and still the same difficulty.
I like Activia natural or the Yeo Valley one - have you tried them? I don't find them sour at all like some but then I like natural yoghurt so I suppose that's half the battle. I'm interested in this as my mum has persistent cystitis too and while I've heard of yoghurt for thrush I'd not heard of it for this. I will have to tell her. Hope you feel better soon xx

I have been eating the Yeo Valley one but I am willing to try anything if it will work. As you say, if you like it it's all right but it is making me feel sick while trying to eat it. I haven't actually been sick, so managing to keep it down but it would be nice if I could make it a bit more pleasant. I knew ABer's would have the answer. Will do an update on this when I have tried some of the suggestions.

Pasta is right, add honey.
Oh, have you read Ethandron's link?

It seems you are right to use yoghurt, but shouldn't be eating it!
greek yoghurt is creamier and lovely with honey..also manuka honey mixed with this would be very healthy..hope you get sorted soon..happy new year
Organic plain yoghurt or organic greek yoghurt tastes much better in full fat versions rather than the low fat stuff. Give them a try!
You could try Perle Du Lait by Yoplait. That is advertised as not being sour.
hopkirk, it says to use it both ways - eat and apply.
beso, natural yoghurt isn't flavoured with anything
I must admit my first thought was to apply the yoghurt, not to eat it - that is the tradtional method....
Try mixing plain natural yoghurt with a blob of vanilla ice-cream. The two taste really good together I think, so you may find it more bearable.
I`ve never heard of yoghurt being used against cyctitis either. I could understand being told to eat it after a prolonged dose of antibiotics to help the intestines. If you could find out from the professor if he wants you to eat it for it`s probiotic qualities, then I would forget the yoghurt and take probiotic tables.
