We have discussed the cuts in benefits to the poorer of this country, but this takes on a whole new discussion, when one reads that Britain has now doubled it's aid to Pakistan.

How can we expect to accept cuts because of the present economic climate, when we dig into the so called empty coffers and hand out a further £33 million on top of the £31.3 million already pledged, yes £64.3 million in all.

/// Speaking in New York, Mr Mitchell told the UN General Assembly it was "unacceptable" that the international community had not done more, and urged other donors to step up their efforts. ///

Reminiscent of the contribution the rest of NATO took over Afghanistan.

It's not just Britain all the time. That works out about a quid a head of population, by my reckoning we in Ireland gave about the same level. That's pretty shameful in any case by the way.
