As most of you know my daughter had a little boy last Monday, and ever since then she'd been complaining of a really bad backache and migraines. We all put this down to obvious normal post birth pains.
She's been having daily injections from the midwife in her stomach due to her losing ALOT of blood whilst giving birth, and yesterday she happened to mention these headaches ands backaches, to the MW who took a blood sample. Anyway, today, she got a call to go back into hospital as apparently these symptoms were and are caused by the fact her epidural went slightly wrong. they couldn't get it in, and it took about 10 attempts to do so. From what i can gather, some of the "stuff" has leaked into her system. I've just come back from visting her in the hospital- poor girl is terrified, and quite frankly, so am I!
So....upshot is, she's to have another epidural tomorrow.
Not quite sure why i made this post to be honest- i just did.
I can understand you being worried B00, us mums always panic when our kids are poorly. I hope your daughter gets sorted out and is back home with the gorgeous new arrival soon!
Sorry to hear that Boo - you must be worried sick. Hope everything gets sorted out ASAP. Seems odd to give her another epidural to cancel out the one they didn't do properly. x
Gosh... one takes it for granted that they are in safe hands when in hospital and to that end, will not suffer complications with what is, to all intents and purposes, a perfectly natural process. But as my Doc once said to me, "There is no such thing as a typical woman."
I will be thinking of you and yours, Boo. Keep us updated. x x
NoM - have you got children, I only ask because I was petrified having my first and imagined ALL sorts - and they still managed to do stuff that I hadn't had the imagination to consider (all very unnatural!).
I'm bearing in mind Sherrak, that I only got her side of the story, I havent seen or spoke to the doctors myself so it could be only half correct- am I making sense?
They are doing a spinal tap tomorrow, that's basically, all I could get out of her. Oh and possibly a transfusion.
Oh B00, I know nothing about this as was too chicken to have an epidural with both of my 2, but I'm sure they know what their doing and she will be back home soon with baby. Hugs to you and I wish her a speedy recovery xx
At least the midwife had the wit to realise that something was wrong and now your daughter is in the hospital it should all get sorted out - try not to worry too much (though of course you are worried sick!). Let us know what happens. x
Thanks folks, sometimeas this place IS like a family innit?
Lucas (the baby) is spending the night at his other grandpaprents as Matt the dad is completely knackered as he's been almost looking after him 24/7 on his own, and probably only had about 5 hours sleep since last Saturday, lol.
No, Sherrard. I miscarried at 11 weeks back in '04, but that's as near to motherhood as I ever got.
When people speak of motherhood, they do tend to say it's the most natural thing in the world. But when all's said and done, it's an incredibly difficult journey.
