////He told the paper he first met Ms Calvert following a three-year relationship with her mother.
She was 16 at the time and joined him on caravan holidays with his children.
The pair only saw each other occasionally until about 10 years ago when she became friends with his 49-year-old daughter Denise.

I think he's already past his life expectancy, so sadly he may have passed away by the time the child starts school. And yes, it does matter, as the child won't just be the offspring of a single mother, it would have had the terribly sad trauma of losing a parent to death, not to just round the corner.
Wasn't Charlie Chaplin 81 when he fathered his last child? Who are we to say whether the relationship is right or wrong. Perhaps the mother wan't a child by the man she actually 'loves'. We shouldn't pass judgement.
If it was the mother that was 79 and going through an unnatural process to get pregnant then I would think that was dreadful. But the fact is that men can still father babies into old age and, although this might be seen as old fashioned, it is still basically the mother who undertakes the majority of natural and care of young children.
