I only heard it myself bobbs about 9 months ago.... started with an american sort-of-sex-in-the-city-type programme called Cougar Town starring Courtney Cox (I think...).

Te term Cougar in relation to the older woman - Younger man thing has been around a long time in the U.S.

Cougar town is named after this trend in that Courtney Cox is supposed to be a Cougar but this makes intresting reading.
