Hi
I was hoping there are some doctors or other medical staff on here. I have been experiencing these symptoms for nearly two weeks now & I am worried.

I'll give you the details & hopefully someone can help me.

It started about two weeks ago, I had severe pain in the middle of my chest. Literally came out of no where. With this I had shortness of breath. I left it 3 days then went to my doctor.
He said it was probably muscle/skelatol & gave me anti imflammorties.

Three days later it was worse, felt like crushing/burning/squeezing in my chest-still with the shortness of breath. Went to doctor again & he gave me Omeprazole for heartburn- This has had no effect for me.

A week later my symptoms are now:
Shortness of breath - on & off with or without rest
Crushing/squeezing in my chest - At all times
Palpitaions-on & off with or without rest
Pain/Numb inside of left arm - on & off with or without rest
Pain or ache more to the left of my chest - At all times
Sharp/Quick/Shocking stab in my heart - on & off like contractions in labour?
Feeling a little sick, sleepy & emotional?

Today my doctor gave me Beta blockers & diazapam. Didnt tell me what was wrong with me & was vague.
I feel like a hypo because I;v been to docs 3 times in the space of 2 weeks.

For information:
I have under active thyroid & morphea (en coup de sabre) - a rare skin disease.

Please can someone help.

Thanks

Helpme, I'm not glad you were taken ill so don't get me wrong but I'm glad your OH called the ambulance, you are in the system now so they know about you. I hope your cardiology appointment comes through soon - as others have said, it sounds like the tests are trying to rule out different things that could be making you feel so unwell. Follow it up with the hospital if...

Should of said.... I'm a 30 yr old female.
I am not a medic and I haven't seen sqad on tonight, but I had these symptoms I think I would ring an ambulance. Not being sensational, and we don't have all your medical history, but these do sound like classic cardiac symptoms. May I suggest that you ring NHS Direct now - 0845 4647 ? There will be someone there and they will advise you what to do.
I was going to say something like boxtops but didn't want to sound too dramatic. Those symptoms are not to be dismissed.

helpmepls,
I had similar 2 years ago, went to surgery Friday at 5pm and my Doc said it was maybe a muscular strain etc. After only using his sterescope on my chest while I was sitting down. He then told me if it got worse to phone 999 for an ambulanc.
I coudnt beleive it as he should have organised an ESG or done more than he did.
It eased off over the W/End but by the next wednesday at 4am in the morning I was in agony and called an ambulance.
I was taken to Addenbookes in Cambridge and diognosed with Acute Pericarditis, which is fluid around the heart and I felt so ill.
I was in for 10 days and the specilist said he could not undersatnd why I had not been referred earlier.

Ask for a second opinion tomorrow, or call an ambulance when it starts again.
Age 30.
Chest symptoms, pain and shortness of breath, radiating down the left arm for 3weeks.
Checked by doctor who considered it to be "non cardiac origin"
Also has Hypothyroidism.

My comments:
Continual chest pain for 3weeks is unlikely to be of heart origin.
You describe your symptoms too well.....almost as if from a book.
You didn't mention that the Dr did an ECG or take your BP.
Beta blockers and diazepam seem to indicate an anxiety state......perhaps the Drs know you better than we do.
Your story doesn't sound ......true......something is missing.
Sounds like kitesurfer again.

Thank you everyone for all your help.
After I posted my question here last night, I suddenly come over very "strange", sweaty, dizzy & severve pain in chest. My partner called an ambulane & I was taken to A&E. On the way in the ambulane I was put on an ECG machine & given an asprin to chew on. I was talking to the paramedic sat in the back with me, answerings questions, then I came over all sweaty again & my bloodpressure shot up to 150. Anyway, I spent 10 hours in A&E where they done 4 seperate ECGs, an X-ray & blood test. The blood test showed I had not had a heart attack, the x-ray I was told was ok. The doctor said I can go home & rest, gave me Diclofenac & said I would be referred to a cardiologist. I'v been asleep all day, the pain is still there, my left arm feels numb/cold/weak. Just feel crap. Anyway, hopefully the cardiologist will find out whats wrong.
For SQAD-Not sure were your strange opinion of me comes from....My story doesnt sound true? Well I can assure you it is & I was just after some help. I have never suffered anxiety or chest pain. All these symptoms came from no where. My GP did not do any ECG, the hospital asked me this also & were shocked he didnt. Maybe I have a rubbish doctor! Thanks anyway!

Would anyone know what I would be referred to a cardioligist for then? Do my symptoms sound like anything anyone has had to deal with before?
Can I rule out serious problems?
Question Author
SQAD-Are you saying these symptoms are not my heart.....? I obviously hope they arent but it does very much feel like it. My father died of ischemic (spelling) heart disease aged 51 & my nan (mum's side) of a heart attack aged 60. I am very concerned & in alot of pain.
I don't think Squad is saying that your symptoms point to some other problem. I think he is saying that you have made the whole thing up/got it all from a book.
Question Author
Ok-so no one can offer any help...... thanks anyway
Question Author
Sherrardk- oh I see. wow thats nice. speechless really..... What on earth do I get out of that though????
Your symptoms as described are classic for a heart attack, which does not rumble on for 3 weeks and the tests are coming in clear. The cardiologist will hopefully reassure you more. Did the A&E doc say why he chose diclofenac??
Isn't Omeprazole for acid reflux?
Question Author
mamyalynne-thanks. No he did not say why, just said take one three times a day for pain relief untill I see cardioligist. Is this wierd then?
Well it is an antiinflammatory pain reliever, maybe he suspected it may be muscular? The follow ups will no doubt help you and remember to ask lots of questions and mention the family history too.
Question Author
Omeprazole-Yes it is for acid reflux. I took them for about 3 days & they did nothing. Doctor said stop taking. Then he gave me beta blockers
