Hi
I was hoping there are some doctors or other medical staff on here. I have been experiencing these symptoms for nearly two weeks now & I am worried.

I'll give you the details & hopefully someone can help me.

It started about two weeks ago, I had severe pain in the middle of my chest. Literally came out of no where. With this I had shortness of breath. I left it 3 days then went to my doctor.
He said it was probably muscle/skelatol & gave me anti imflammorties.

Three days later it was worse, felt like crushing/burning/squeezing in my chest-still with the shortness of breath. Went to doctor again & he gave me Omeprazole for heartburn- This has had no effect for me.

A week later my symptoms are now:
Shortness of breath - on & off with or without rest
Crushing/squeezing in my chest - At all times
Palpitaions-on & off with or without rest
Pain/Numb inside of left arm - on & off with or without rest
Pain or ache more to the left of my chest - At all times
Sharp/Quick/Shocking stab in my heart - on & off like contractions in labour?
Feeling a little sick, sleepy & emotional?

Today my doctor gave me Beta blockers & diazapam. Didnt tell me what was wrong with me & was vague.
I feel like a hypo because I;v been to docs 3 times in the space of 2 weeks.

For information:
I have under active thyroid & morphea (en coup de sabre) - a rare skin disease.

Please can someone help.

Thanks

Helpme, I'm not glad you were taken ill so don't get me wrong but I'm glad your OH called the ambulance, you are in the system now so they know about you. I hope your cardiology appointment comes through soon - as others have said, it sounds like the tests are trying to rule out different things that could be making you feel so unwell. Follow it up with the hospital if...

Mamyalynne-thanks. Hopefully I will find out more & I will mention family history. When I was laying down in the ambulance, I was at that point comfortable & very sleepy-then my blood pressure shot up to 150 & they pulled over! They dropped the bed & lefted my legs-it went straight back down. Then I felt ok again. What would cause that?
Please don`t be fooled by the uniform in my avatar, I have had BP as high as 200 top figure in past but is more under control now.You often raise legs if people are faint etc I think.

Oh I see. Would you know if, say I had something seriously wrong, would I have had it diagnosed in A&E? I'm assuming that because I was allowed home after they knew I hadnt suffered a heart attack, I cant have anything serious going on??
As I say I`m not qualified to answer that but it seems they are gradually ruling other things out, go back to GP if no improvement and ask to be referred, though it looks like you have been by the hospital. Good luck.
I hope they sort it for you! I've had similar symptoms (I was shocked they could be so severe) which turned out to be due to acid reflux then later episodes of costochondritis so I can see why your doctor tried the omeprazole and anti-inflammatories.

Follow it up with the hospital if you don't get a letter in a couple of weeks, your GP will also be notified that you've been in hospital so should be kept updated.
It is a windup.
Why was my opinion reported and deleted?
sqad, isn't Omeprazol also a stomach protector?
Yes.
These typwe of questions leave me speechless. Lets see, i've got the classic symptoms of a heart atack, what shall I do. Now, I could call 999 (strongly recomended) I could call
NHS direct (recomended) or, I could pot a question on answerbank (Do what? No way! surely you need expert medical advcie?)
So, Answerbank it is then.

ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But the poster had already seen the doctor 3 times, and was not confident in his or her advice.

What worries me is that a guy at my work went through similar things, and the tests said no heart problems.

In the end he collapsed and further tests showed - a severe heart attack.

Hopefully a cardiologist can help..
Any crushing pains in you're chest you call 999, that is the advice given by doctors. Theres even beed a national advertising campaign about it.
thetruthhurts........crushing chest pains, continuous for 2 weeks are NOT consistent with cardiac pain. Don't you think that 3 visits to a Dr, with that story, almost pat for a heart attack, that he would have thought of that. Of course he would. It is a windup.

Panic Button...having chest pain, like your friend and being investigated by ECG is one thing, but helpmepls WASN'T ........odd don't you think.

I have seen many heart attacks over the years, but nobody has ever given me a story as complete and accurate as that.

Anyone who has crushing chest pain SHOULD call an ambulance, immediately.....not after 2 weeks and 3 visits to the doctor.

See my point?.......the story doesn't add up.
sqad, yes, I agree with you totally. I was making a seperate point about users posting questions about serious medical symptoms on here. No, the story doesn't add up at all.
Jenna I was the same with acid reflux, which was entirely my own fault (too many cigs and not eating enough) and I also suffered dreadfully from panic attacks. I spent 2 days in hospital when my daughter dragged me into A&E thinking I was having a heart attack, had numerous tests which revealed.................reflux and panic attacks.
thetruthhurts.....not to worry, it is my fault that I take it so seriously.

Who cares anyway....it is just a screen with thousands of pixels.....LOL
Sqad - I'm not saying whether I believe the poster or not, but my husband had a kidney transplant 3 years ago. He had to have an emergency op to clear an infected clot around the kidney 8 days after the transplant, and after this time he started to suffer from chest pains and shortness of breath to the extent that he really couldn't do anything for himself. He was at the renal clinic 3 times a week for months, and every time he told them about these pains and tightness in his chest. They spent months swapping medications around and changing dosages till 7 months later he had his annual cardiac check where they did an ecg and told him he'd had a severe heart attack and was suffering from ischemic heart disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (after an angiogram). In all the 7 months from his transplant when he'd been complaining of severe chest pains, no one had done an ecg and they hadn't even done one after the 2nd op. So all that time his heart problems had gone untreated and it took him well over a year to recover. I'm not having a rant at the drs - I am very grateful to them for all they did, but these things do happen.
Karen...I understand what you have said, but SURELY your husband was not complaining of :
Shortness of breath - on & off with or without rest
Crushing/squeezing in my chest - At all times
Palpitaions-on & off with or without rest
Pain/Numb inside of left arm - on & off with or without rest
Pain or ache more to the left of my chest - At all times

Note the inflection on "at all times" and "with or without rest"......surely, this description didn't fit your husband.?

Good grief! What is it with you Sqad?

I really do not care if you BELIEVE my symptoms or not to be honest. I came on here for advice as I had been to the dr THREE times!!

Your comment was removed because you were basically calling me a lier? For what I do not know?

If you read my post correctly, I explain that my symptoms CHANGE over time. It started with chest pain, which was not severe as I put up with it for 3 days before seeing the dr!!

Over the 2 weeks (not 3 as you keep saying) things became worse. Everything I wrote in my post is exactly how I have experienced it. I put every detail down.

I still have the symptoms now, whilst I am sat down. Shortness of breath, crushing/squeezing in my chest, pain in my arm & palpataions.

I have done nothing wrong to you & I am upset that you, for some unknown reason are adament I am making this up. I have no idea what I possibly gain from doing that.

If you can not offer any helpful advice then I would rather you dont leave nasty comments on here.

The hospital said I have not suffered a heart attack-which I am obviously glad of but that doesnt take my symptoms away.

I am due to see a cardiologist, so hopefully they will shed light.

Thank you for those who have offered useful advice.
This sounds very much like i suffer, my ecg was normal, 24hr ecg normal, ecg while on treadmill normal, they have put mine down to imflamation of the heart wall, nothing to owrry about, so ive been told! sqad??
