You will all finde that out when you die.
Valentin, No! You won't find out when you die! That's exactly my point! We have this romantic ideal shared by whatever religious belief you hold, whether aetheistic or faith, that when you die, all will be revealed. It won't be. When your brain dies, you won't have any consciousness so you won't be able to find out what its like. Anyone feel they want to challenge me on this one?!
I dont bleve there is ne particular "meaning". We are alive lets just get busy living!!
The meaning of life cannot be a concious thought, as things not classed as having consiousness can still have life. It all depends what you class as being alive. Is a group of cells working together alive, or is a single cell alive? A single cell is just a continuous reaction, so is a reaction with an equalibrium alive?
I'm still going with 42 here. Take a look at The FAQ of the Meaning of Life: http://sysopmind.com/tmol-faq/meaningoflife.html. I haven't read much of it yet, but if you're on my wavelength you'll like it (& I guess you'll have to read it to find that out!). Back to 42, it's the question we're looking for here, that's as important as the answer. That we, a part of nature, can as what the meaning of life is must be food for though, for a start? Let me know what you think, especially if you're Chocolate Doughnut!
TV - The meaning 2 any life.
The Ultimate answer is 42. The question that gives you that answer is "How many teeth should an adult dog have?" Therefore dogs' teeth are the meaning of life. QED
This is spooky. I live at No. 42 and last night I counted 42 sheep before dozing off. There's a pattern forming here...
You make your own meaning.
Meaning? What makes anyone think life has a *meaning*?! Billy Graham (old-time American fundamentalist evangelist) used to distribute bumper stickers saying things like "ELIF -- meet the man who can make sense of it!", "LFIE -- meet the man who can make sense of it!" etc. One day I saw an identical-looking sticker saying "FILE -- don't let it grind you down!".
It's no use trying to answer the question because you have no choice in being born into the world. You just become. In the scheme of things it seems that we transmit a new form of human each tome we mix our genes. So, while we die, new humans replace old ones. It's called evolution. Why that happens is something we can only speculate on biologically. Maybe new forms of life that will eventually be able to see whether other life exists elsewhere in the cosmos. And then who knows? And still why? The answer to why do we exist? To live your life! That's all. How you do it is just a matter of convenience to you. Good or bad, that's up to you. Goodness helps others live their time in the world easier and bad makes their lives all the harder. Either can lead to general progress or retrogression of humans as a whole. In the long run, all we do is overpopulate the world, which will eventually right itself, by whatever means. So, enjoy it if you will, as you only have one life. Whoever created the cosmos knows why it was made.

leaving religious mumbo jumbo aside. there is, of course, no meaning of life. it is all a great big happy accident. to learn? to learn what? this assumes people are going to use this knowledge for what? 42? isn't that the answer to everything? fearing god? simply put, the church scaring people into complicity. be yourself. jim.
That dreams may come..........when we except that we are one......One world order. .we will then move up a level.......where are we going to ? will be the next Q
The question is: What do you get if you multiply six by nine? And the answer? 42!
The meaning of life is to survive and better ourselves in anyway we can. Then we have to raise children and instill what we have learnt into them. After that, we have a few years to chill out and then die. What a blessing!
The question 'what is the meaning of life' is answered the first time you make eye contact with your new born child and a smile forms upon their face.
Only a dead person knows.
You don't die. In your lifetime, other people die, because your life goes on when theirs doesn't, but when your life ends, you'll slip into unconsciousness and never wake up - just like going to sleep, and the only way you know you've been asleep and not died is because you wake up again. You'll never know you've died, so don't worry about not cancelling the milk....
If you ask me, (actually you sort of did!) I'd have to say that there is no meaning of life. That is to say, there is no purpose, forethought, intent or predetermination connected to the fact that we (the questioners) exist. The fact that we exist and have the ability to question our existence is not reason enough to suppose that our existence has any meaning beyond that "fact". Confused? Tune in next week when we will be discussing whether or not Mel Gibson understands the meaning of words like "History" and "Ethics"
