My husband had a 4.2mm melanoma removed and then another wide incision. He's been referred to an oncologist who says there is a 50% possibility of this recurring and a metastatic melanoma was mentioned. We were both in too much shock to ask lots of questions. he may be chosen to go on to a drugs trial. so any information is welcome.

There has been a lot of research into melanoma in the past couple of decades.
I have heard of an experimental vaccination. Try searching for that.
I had a malignant Melanoma removed from my left Forearm just above the wrist in 1979 but I am still here to tell the tale !
I was lucky to receive an early diagnosis from the skin specialist. I had a biopsy then was rushed into Hospital to have Melanoma removed. I was in and out in 3 days having had a skin graft to cover the open wound. I only had 7 stitches to hold graft in place but it took well over a Year for everything to heal up.
I received no drugs or any other treatment, only monthly checks, 3 monthly checks, 6 monthly checks and finally once a Year ones. My lymph Glands were checked each time to make sure the Cancer was not spreading elsewhere, but I made a full recovery and am in good health now.
The Melanoma was the result of too much Sun exposure when I was in the Navy.
If diagnosed early it is curable as long as it has not spread elsewhere.
Be positive and hopefully all will be well. Good Luck !
im not clued up bianca i just wanted to wish you both the best ....xx
