Hi

Any advice would be really helpful.

I have a maroon/black/bruise type circle under my big toe.

I am unsure how long it has been there...I believe around 3 months? No pain or swelling.

Nail looks healthy-although I also have a dent in the nail?

I wasnt concerned until a friend pointed it out and asked if i'd dropped something on my toe. I havent. No injury.

So I googled....and it bought up Melanoma!!! Which obviosuly freaked me out!!

BUT the pictures I found of Melanoma in this area show a streak of bruise type colour down the nail....mine is circular!? About 6mm in size.

OBVIOUSLY I will see my GP but this may take a few days to get an app and its almost the weekend so probably not til next week now!

Can anyone give some advise. I would appreciate honest helpful answers....I can handle it :-(
THANK YOU XXXX

Thank you!! Your all really kind. xx
I had one previously which looked like dryed blood under the nail which was caused by ill fitting work steel toe caps. Seem to have another one now even though the offending shoes have been long binned but then again Mrs Kirk claims I have horrible feet :-)
Question Author
Captainkirk-You made me smile with that last part about your wifes opinion of your feet. Jokes aside...have you had them checked?x
no need ... I can confirm I have horrible feet! lol ... but seriously no I haven't so I have subscribed to this thread to see any replies ...
Jessi....do you go jogging or to the gym?
Question Author

ummmm- i would like to say yes but no I dont. I'm too busy for the gym, well thats my excuse anyway! Why? What was you thinking...?
I use to get bruises under my toe nails when I went jogging. Just meant they needed cutting. It didn't hurt I presume because it bruised gradually.
Question Author
Ummm - thanks again...that does make sense...but I dont jog. Just hope its nothing serious.
Chances are it's not. Google can be a bad bad thing at times.
Question Author
ummmm-thank you for your continued replies. Yes google can be evil sometimes... good point-which has made me relax a little, which has helped me alot, so thank u.xx
Jessie....it is NOT a malignant melanoma.

It is IS a subungual haematoma.....now Google that and stop worrying.
