I will try and get all my details in this time ............................
You know my current diagnosis well my first joint pains started 3 weeks after I had my first child and anytime I was pregnant after that I was relatively ok. After my second pregnancy I was much worse and would be bent double by the evening and after my third I was a lot better. I had diagnosis with a rheumatoid factor in blood a couple of months back but not conclusive. (oh my father had rheumatoid arthritis). I started taking glucosamine supplements a couple of months back and added eskimo oil a few weeks ago. I am not in menopause yet. I have been feeling considerably better energy wise the last few weeks. I did have a sun holiday and felt great but was back down when I came home but am much better now. I still have pain but not as bad as it was. Could my condition be linked to hormones in any way - I have asked but never got a proper answer. Also the only place I have no pain is on a roller coaster (I joke you not) so could adrenalin have anything to do with that. I hope I explained this correctly. Thanks G

peri...well and succinctly written, but I am afraid that I cannot answer your questions with any degree of certainty.

1) No diagnosis is clear at the moment although RA is a clear favourite.
2) There does not seem to be a hormonal link to RA.............not that I am familiar with.
3) The sun is a key factor, particularly in Psoriatic Arthropathy.........improves with the sun.
4) Roller coaster.......no idea. Again Adrenaline is a hormone but only secreted at certain times.

Sorry to be obtuse peri.

Thanks Sqad - im not looking for certainty really as I know I will probably never get it in my particular situation. Whats probably worrying me most is the fact that I am much better over the past while and I do not want it to lose this so I am looking for something to guide me. I know Im not making much sense here.
peri...what you are saying, as I see it, is the going is at last good and you want to keep it that way.

I kow of no sure way of doing that peri other than emigrating to warmer climes............a monumental decision I realise.

I must just readjust my comment on hormones, as you mentioned pregnancy, I assumed that you were referring to to female sex hormones, which I feel have no part to play in RA, but steroids of course are hormones and they play a vital role in RA.

Cant see us emigrating anywhere Sqad - a lot of holidays hopefully. I did mean female hormones - have never taken steroids. Fingers crossed for good health ! Can RA burn out ? This may be a stupid question
peri....not a stupid question at all, although we regard RA as a disease of exacerbations and remissions, it is not unusual to observe that it has "burnt itself out"

English Sqad please
peri

"RA as a disease of exacerbations and remissions, it is not unusual to observe that it has "burnt itself out""

Gets , better, worse, fails to progress without any obvious medical explanation.
Question Author
Thanks Sqad - appreciate it
peri...no problem....do not hesitate to ask further, but remember i am not a Rheumatologist.

Have to pick "her indoors" up from the airport, so have to check, bed made, all crockery in the dishwasher etc otherwise she will "batter" me.

And a nice meal cooked !!!! No running upstairs later lol

Just an addition to this Q sqad - hope you see it and sorry for bothering. I.e. - My appointment with the rheumatologist - if still feeling this well - touch wood - how should I approach with regard to medication or do you think she may not prescibe medication at all
