I work as a DJ in a nightclub n two weeks ago it was quiet -the boucners obviously wanted to finish early so they came up and asked me to finish, i told them i had one more song left to play - this was at 2.45 - we usually finish at 2.50 to have people out by 3.so i put it on with this 4 bouncers came upstairs - i was on the dancefloor walking back towards to DJbox, they flung me across the dancefloor, ripped the buttons off my shirt and casued a big rip down it, the same one that threw me then pinned me against a wall with his elbow in my throat and called me a little ****, at this point my girlfriend and friends were obviously concerned and my girlfriend ran to help at which point another bouncer put his hands around her throat and pushed her away - shes 5ft! they then threw me into the DJ box and forced me to turn off the song..as they threw me in the bouncer cleared the DJ box of all my CDs onto the floor and stood on them, when i turned the music off he hit me knocking me to the floor, then told me to get out!a few friends rang the police, obivously seeing a member of staff attacked, they were 4 witness's and my girlfriend and a member of the bar staff, the police came and asked me if i had been drinking - i said i had 3 pints because obviously i was working, they said to ring back in the morning, which i did and they said i could take further but i said i would speak to my bosses and the owner of the club i work at.which i did and i was promised an apology by the bouncer and some form of cash for my damaged shirt and CDs so i went back to work this week and i got no apology, no cash and felt quite unsafe walking past the bouncers. i feel cheated by the club and i dont feel safe working there, but it is cash in hand job so im scared if i took if futher i would get in trouble,im also scared these bouncers will find where i live and attack me again or one night after the club, the police obivously know theres been an assault, where do i stand in the law for this?

Sounds like a nice establishment with good work practices??
My mate was beaten up by bouncers once, yes he was in wrong because he had squirted them with fire extinguisher but there are rules they have to stick by and ripping big clumps out his hair was not one of them, we went to police that night and they said come back in morning, but when all sober we kind of looked at it and thought well any judge would probably be on their side. But as I said if they are proper bouncers with a license they should have took a course and that isnt on.
This is what I'm thinking 4get!
basically they are allowed to use same amount of force as police

In the cold light of day, you have very little redress on this issue.

My advice would be to find another gig, and don;t less this episode put you off DJ'ing elsewhere.

You are never going to feel safe and secure working in this club again, if the very people employed to protect you are behaving in this way.

Walk away as soon as possible, and put it down to experience.

Morally wrong, but safer as a response.
go down to the police station
You can threaten to sue your employer for the costs involved in the damaged goods and the injuries, etc. They would be in lots of bother what with the cash in hand thing if it got as far as proceedings. The employer is "vicariously liable" for the conduct of the bouncers. If they tell you to get lost, get legal advice. You have a good case.
These guys are supposed to be there to protect YOU from the public but you will never trust them to do this after bullying you in such a fashion.

If they are like this with you it makes me wonder what they are like with members of the public.

Go somewhere else to work - it is the simplest solution. My first thought was to report them to the police, but muscle bound morons like that would probably make you regret it.

As Wizard says - they feel safe in packs, they are probably wimps on their own. I won't call them animals because that is an insult to my little furry friends.
You take your Equipment / Music home with you.
Dont turn up for the next Gig.
Explaine you have received further Threats .....Club Looses out and looks at the practices of the Bouncers.
Bouncer said Owner Knows Im not letting you back in.

See how much longer they are there.
As it is/was a cash in job - i don't think you are protected by the law at all as effectively you were breaking it.
