Friendship at work

Ok im in a very weird situation at work, basically me and this girl i work with are really close friends, we have a good laugh and a harmless flirting, but there is nothing to it (wouldnt say there never wil be because she is very attractive but at the moment its no) Anyway a jealous member of staff has started the rumor that me and this girl are an item and its now causing friction between the 2 of us and that is not what i want, and i dont want the girl to think iv implimented this rumor, u all know how rumors can cause alot of grief, how do i handle this situation without me and her falling out?

if you two are close friends then can't you sit her down and explain to her what you've said on here and that your not happy about the rumour either?

I agree with MiniN,

Just talk to her about it; say that you had no idea the rumour was going around and that you came across it unexpectedly (assuming you did - although this seems more likely)

Having mutual feelings of this rumour obviously contributes to no involvement of you starting it and I'm sure she would accept that fact and you two can let the rumour pass.

If you are both single and no one is getting hurt by these rumours just let people say what they like.. it is usually people with very narrow minds who have no excitement in there own lives that usually start rumours ..just ignore it ..whilst they are talking about you 2 they are leaving other people alone.. give them something to talk about. and give each other a kiss in the morning and when you leave at night.. you never know you might both like it and the rumour may turn out to be true after all...lol

Thanks for your answers, iv tryed to explaiin im not happy about it either but its not really worked much, she is getting pestered constantly at work about it and its getting to her which is turning her against me.

sammmo thanks for the suggestion, how do i approach the subject of hey lets pretend we are going out and kiss in morning and before leaving? lol
