I was wondering if anyone had any tips on wind/gas - I'm not overweight, in fact about the right size for my height, I eat quite a bit of fibre (good diet), but not that much and suffer with rather smelly windy pops... :{. I have tried loads of things, probiotics, friendly yeast, charcoal, reducing the fibre - but I still have irritable tum and wind. I think it's more about how I eat - but I'm not sure and would love to hear from you all xx

High fibre cereals have that effect on me, so try cutting out wholemeal stuff and porage.

Also onions, sprouts and beans.

Try cutting down on the yeast aswell.

Thanks - the yeast was prescribed to me by a natropath it's a friendly yeast that helps with good bacteria in the gut I guess that could be the culprit - however they do say that when you first start taking things like that and probiotics you do get a bit of wind and bloating to start with as it starts to populate the gut - so maybe that and over fibre then?!?
Maybe you suffer from IBS? I do and the smell can be terrible for others. Very intense.
I bet you eat a lot of meat. It's a major culprit for wind.

And if you had IBS you'd be complaining of much worse than gas.
Not chewing your food enough can cause it as can eating too quick.
Put smaller portions of food into your mouth and chew very well. Stay away from pulses, fried food and anything too spicy. Mind you, if you leave all that the others've suggested as well, you'll hardly be eating anything!

Thanks all - I do suffer with IBS, but the yeast and the probiotic that I'm on take care of that - I don't eat much wheat, dairy or fatty foods. I do eat meat, but only about once or twice a week, and it's usually only skinless chicken or lamb. Beans - yes, but again in moderation. I think I have trouble with sugar, as sugar/fruit ferments in the gut that can cause gas - altho there's no real test for this at the docs ;(
Yes I also have trouble with sugar. Happens when I drink beer. Get terrible pains followed by diarrhea.
OMG!!!! I hope I'm never behind you in a pub Filthiestfis!!!!
Only eat fruit on an empty stomach, and then eat nothing else for half an hour after. Your body digests fruit much quicker than any other food type so it needs a clear run through your system, otherwise it will get stuck behind slower food types and ferment making you highly explosive! Have fruit as your first meal of the day and then if you want cereal or anything else, give it half an hour and then fill up on what you want. That might help with your bugle bum ;o)

Remember the old F Plan diet?
F did not stand for fibre!

I'm not ashamed of the farting - its the STENCH that I wouldn't want to put anyone through, it even offends me!! And the quantity of it too - geez, you wouldn't think someone so thin could produce so much!! I think I'm made up of entirely wind......PARP
I had this problem too, was trumping constantly, noisily and toxically! It only went away when i completely cut out wheat and milk. Now, even if I only have a little bit, the wind returns within about an hour!
