It's so unfair that at age 27 I still feel sick with worry about girls I like.

I feel like I'm about 17 again, and this shouldn't be happening to me, but I think I'm getting quite obsessed (in a NON CREEPY way) with a girl at work. I really like her, and I'm convinced she's perfect for me. I've been spending a fair bit of time together, and we go out to lunch most days, just the two of us. I can't tell if she's interested though, and it's driving me nuts. How on earth am I
A. Going to find out she's interested
B. Actually ask her out. This is someone I work with so it's going to have to be during the day.

Spill a drink/throw yr lunch over her.

Works for me....
Remind me to be busy early November x
Not trying to put you off but I can't ask people out because I fear the rejection, ever since I was 16 and my crush said no because he had just got back together with his ex : ( and we used to hang about together at lunch and after college all the time. I was also horrified once when the most boring, ugly, as old as my dad man asked me out. The words "did you seriously think I would say yes?" exited my mouth.

Also works the same way if they are too good looking for me. Cant say yes, I made the mistake of agreeing to a date with someone who is too good looking for me, saw him a few times then had to say "I cant see you anymore, you make me want to vomit when I am around you".
Answerbank DOES count young lady
Humph. I'm going back to Terry Wogan's kn*b.
;o(
You're all heart GS, at least I attempt to play nicely in giving advice sometimes. I've got that blind date tonight by the way.

Nick love, bad taste in TMNT's and FHM music recommendations aside you know I think you're a star and I maintain you are overthinking this. If you can't ask her out tomorrow at lunch time then bl00dy well get her number or email her asking. You can't keep dilly dallying around as if she is interested she won't be for long cause she won't think you are.

Can't you just saunter over now and see if she fancies a quick coffee or sit on her desk and talk to her?

Just do it. You will be absolutely kicking yourself if she starts going out with someone else and you never even asked to see if she was interested.

Perhaps this was what Facebook was invented for? Perhaps not.

I can't do it at her desk without saying it in front of her team. Honestly, that's not a possibility. E-mail is a bit cowardly (and yes I know that i'm cowardly), so i'm not doing it that way.

I could catch her on the way out, but that makes a big show of it.

Or I could it here fretting and procrastinating, and then on the way home I could stick on some Bloc Party and stew for a while in my impotence. Yes, that sounds like a plan.
Hmmm.... well it's a plan of sorts.

Ok, email is out. So is asking her in the office. Which leaves tomorrow lunch time. So you're just going to have to go through all this again tomorrow.

As are we.

I take it you don't have her number?
Nick, you sound so funny, she would be mad to turn you down kid.
Now come on, deep breath! She already spends her free time with you (lunch breaks at work) - she doesn't have to, does she? What does that tell you?
I think you've talked yourself around to thinking she'll say no just in case she does, so you don't get hurt.
Be brave!!! It could be a lot worse.....you could be trying to understand men!!!
Us women are relatively simple to understand. Be nice to us and we'll be nice back. (Most of the time).
'Understanding Men'

Amen to that cheries!
Oooh good luck, CD. I hope he has ten fingers and ten toes bt I really, really hope he brings his siamese twin along for the fun.

I've asked her if she's doing anything tonight and if she fancies going for a drink together.

via e-mail. such a coward.
I have given up on men for a while CD. Although did I read somewhere that you've got a date tonight? Have you got your translation booklet ready for all the things he might say?
AND???????
Has she replied?????????????
Quick - I have to go in a minute and need to know if she's got back to you.
Oh my god what a cliffhanger!! I joined this just now, caught up....WHAT DID SHE SAY?! I don't watch soaps, so this is my gossip fix..
Question Author
No.

"soz, no can do" Then she says she's having a meal with a friend tonight.

No 'maybe another day' etc.

Not really sure.
Supernick! Pet, after all that build-up too. Are you OK? I am sure she does have plans tonight, and maybe you took her so by surprise when you asked that she didn't think to suggest another time. I know it's the kind of thing I would do!

I'm very drunk now, and not feeling pretty good about proceedings. Which is good I suppose, becaus edrinking can go either way in these circumstances.

I think I might listen to some Jack Penate in the morning and revel in some unabashed joy, before giving it another pop.
Question Author
I mean feeling good

Rather than NOT feeling ggood.

It's a relatively optimistic feeling
