Can anyone suggest how to remove matt black paint from a small pot which has been overpainted, without removing the original glaze? It looks as though it might be something like Coalport/Royal Doulton underneath. Have tried 'thinners'' and nail polish remover with no success. Thanks

canariesfan - Have you tried rubbing at it with a wet cloth?
I am assuming it is emulsion paint? It should come off if the surface under it is glazed.

Thanks for that, but I think it is some type of eggshell/blackboard type paint and won't come off with water. But thanks for troubling to reply anyway.
