It seems I use most partner most of the time, where i'm sure not so long ago I used boyfriend. I guess think ing about it now I think boyfriend sounds like a short term thing and since we've been together 5 yrs, live together and are buying a house together it sounds more appropriate, but it definitely feels like a term thats become more popular among people i know regardless of relationship length of late.
What do you use? Am I imagining that its got more popular?

i always think the term 'partner' disguises if its a same-sex relationship
maybe i am wrong
I would still say boyfriend (if i had one lol)
I know what you mean littleone. I've been with my bloke 5 years and we have a mortgage and everything and I sometimes don't know what to refer to him as either. Depending on what mood i'm in it could be a whole host of things!! :)
hi beads <:-)
I agree with weeal, I sometimes use partner, but then I think people think I'm gay, boyfriend I think sounds too short term and childish after 19 years and 3 kids, so I go for my other half sometimes, or even my husband, but I'm not totally comfortable with any of them.
I use his name, Hubby,better/other half ,have even said "him Indoors" LOL .depends on who i'm with too.if they know him etc

i usually use his name with people that know him but partner for those that don't, on the flipside what do your partners call you? (to other people) lol

i watched wife swap on e4, if I get any more desperate i will be watching derek acorah just to laugh at him

I call my ol man by his name, or as my partner/other half, I get called missus

boyfriend always sounds a bit like a terminology for younger couples or short term relationships, after 13 years I should call him the ball n chain!
Hi Littleone go with whatever you feel comfortable with, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
My partner probably calls me a nag :) but do i care ??? NO!!
Maybe I'll have a peruse weeal! keep flitting between casino, south park and now little britain!
g'night all, off to slumberland without partner/boyfriend/hubby - whole bed to my wee self lol
I have the same problem with my daughter's man. Two children and quite a few years together, when I'm talking about him I never know whether to say "my daughter's partner/boyfriend" or what. I've started to say "my son-in-law" now even though strictly speaking he isn't.
