Hello!

I posted a while ago about my problems with my (lack of) sex drive and I was hoping for a bit more advice. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might be able to find out the pros and cons of each type of contraception please. I am currently on The Pill but am hoping to change to something more suitable. Does the injection lower your sex drive as Ther Pill is known to ?

Thank you in advance, c~s

I think its all depends on person themselves. Some people are fine with pill some are not. some are fine with injection some arent....
I'm fine with the pill, but the injection made me not want sex at all, and that's not like me! Just my experience though. What about coil? I havent clicked berylliums link, but it probably shows pro's and con's of them all.
Think very carefully before having the coil.
Especially Mirena. You can kiss goodbye to any sex with that thing lol.....

Thank you for your link beryllium! There doesn't seem to be much about how each affect your sex drive though and that is my only problem. :-( The pill has been great for me over the years in every way but I'm not wanting sex at all which means that I may as well not even be on it. Thanks again, c~s
How about good ol' non hormone contraception? and alas, I cannot really comment on low sex drive. I know Viagra can be taken by women though lol.... I got offered some by my doc hehe.... cos' of my m.s. I said no regrettably, (I could have sold them and made a bit ) and I told the doc that pushing the right buttons is all he needs to do ;)
I agree with the non hormonal contraceptive stuff. Can't be healthy! Try a glass of organic milk compared to one of the hormone filled cow's ones. It's just not right luv!

Thank beryllium. I've tried to get along with condoms but I don't react very well to them. I can't really think of any other alternative, I don't think I'm destined to have a good sex life !
Hi. I've been on the injection for four years now.
The biggest plus for me is no periods and no PMT. Haven't noticed any change in my sex drive compared to the pill but I know that's not the same for everybody.
On the down side, I have put on weight and finding it hard to lose ( not helped by the fact that I'm a greedy cow, just before someone comes on to tell me I'm only making excuses ) but again this can happen to people on the pill.
Plus, I've heard that using it for longer than 5 years can mess the calcium in your bones and put you at greater risk of oesteoperosis.
Another downside - but one that I don't personally care about - is that it can take longer to conceive when you come off it because it can take a long while to come off it.
I final word of caution is that if you think a brand of pill is diagreeing with you you can stop taking it at any time but once you'vehad the injection you just have to live with it.
Not been a great advert for it, I realise, but it really has worked for me and was definitely the best choice for me out of the options available ( which didn't include the pill ) .
There aint no such thing as a lack of sex drive in my book sue honey, its just been misplaced. now you listen to old Buck and we'll soon have your malfunctioning juicer fixed and primed for the red hot ride of your life. Firstly tell that randy old cowpoke of yours he's gonna have to hang up his shooter for a while cos mamma aint gonna be taken no pills or wearing no caps. then when you're all squared away and natural like see how you is progressing in the lovin feelin way. If you gets the irrisistable urge to hank his panky use a condom or two if you fancy dancin with old mr long here. see i figure the trials of life have distracted mr sue from his tender ways and he might need a bit of a romantic boot up his hide the fool .
When your holy waters do start their ressurection you must do sexy things girl, like pruning your shrubbery and may ol' buck say it take to wearing skirts with no panties like and going outdoors with nothin but sunshine to keep the old boy at bay.
its buck's destiny to put you back in workin order ma'am
thankyou

have nt read the other posts, but i have been on 'microgynon'for about 15 years give or take.........the only thing i know is that they wont give you the injection if your depressed..........
if you have a low sex drive it could be that you are not feeling great about yourself or an illness or maybe like i said in a depressed state of mind.I dont know personally how the injection would effect your sex drive other than its a hormone.....which can effect all different kind of things.
talking to a understanding doctor will help....nothing worse than having no sex drive or lack of..........it made me feel less of a woman or inadaquate perhaps.... all the best

Yes, I don't think The Injection is really the answer as I assume they are pretty much the same thing just taken in different ways. Thank you all anyway.
hi curly sue, ive been on the pill for 6 years now, and have found my sex drive has gone lower and lower too. i told the doc and shes been putting me on diffeent pills but none make a difference. also to try not taking it and see how you feel, it takes six months for your hormones to return to normal so its a long winded process!!!
is ur partner understanding?
