Very worried

Hello, this is kind of embarrassing..
A couple of days ago I noticed a really really horrible burning sensation when i urinated. This was only towards the end of the stream. This is so painful that I can't fully empty my bladder so have to go to the loo more often now.

It hasn't gone away and the same night after urinating again I noticed a scary amount of blood on the toilet paper after wiping myself, which I know for a fact was not menstrual blood. Since this I have had some odd discharge from the area and I cramps akin to period pain, only much worse than I have ever experienced.

I have been sleeping with my current partner for just over a year now. I am on the contraceptive injection but we don't use condoms. I found out recently he has had unprotected sex before he met me and hasn't been tested. Would it take this long for symptoms of an STI to appear if I had one?

I have recently started taking Omeprazole, if this might have anything to do with it.

What could be wrong with me? Is this an infection? A bladder problem? I'm really worried and I can't go to my Family Planning Clinic to get tested until at least next Wednesday and I'm wondering if I should make an urgent appointment at my doctor's instead.

Please help!!

It could be a urinary tract infection or pelvic imflammatory disease but your doing the right thing by going to the family planning clinic. You should also go to your GP first thing on Monday so he can take a urine sample. As for the Omeprazole, that has nothing to do with the symptoms, i take it that you suffer from acid reflux that is why you are using this medication? I use it too and the only side affects i have with this medication is headaches.
Do go to your GP on Monday and the clinic as you have booked it. In the mean time try drinking some cranberry juice and plenty of water. When you need to urinate try getting a jug full of warm water and pour over while you are urining, this will help ease any burning or soreness.

sounds like cystitis / water infection. I used to suffer from this years ago, ive actually "passed out" through blood loss (in the urine). Unfortunatley the only thing that cleared it up was antibiotics. however if i were you i would see your gp soon as poss (regarding discharge too). The reason i used to get water infections was from having sex whist having a full bladder. the bladder becomes bruised and hence an infection! its not nice and you feel like your bladder.s going to burst, then when you pee there.s just a trickle! good luck and make sure you see your gp soon as poss.Your surgery is probly closed today, but if you phone up they should give you an emergancy number to phone. good luck saint aleia x
