I am waiting to move into a house where the people who are moving out are waiting to move into a new house.

Obviously a hold up with the builders (don't mention rain!) Person who wants to buy my house has just asked me to reduce the property by 2,000 because he is having to wait. What should I do?

Although in the big scheme of things 2,000 doesn't seem too bad, but its a lot of money to me and I can't really afford to do it. Any advice?

Hi, you should tell them to wait like everyone else is doing in the chain. Some people can be to impatient and seem to intimidate. Only drop the price if thats what you think you should do.
Have a word with the people you are buying off. If it is them, that are holding the chain up. Tell them you cant afford 2000 and you may have to withdraw your offer if this cannot be settled soon. Why dont they move into rented for a short time until the builders have finished? it's not like they are in a chain. I would be very surprised if they allow you to pull out, especially as it is probably close to completion. They would still have to pay for their new property!
You don't mention whether 'completion' has taken place. I would have thought so if people are actually at the 'moving in' stage. If completion has been done then all monies, etc., have been paid to the appropriate people. You don't need to drop your price by 2,000 as its all been paid already. Also, if completion has taken place then your new property belongs to YOU! Tell the people who are sitting in your house that you would appreciate their moving out asap. If any probs, consult your solicitor who will demand that they move out. (Or, if you so wish, you could charge 'em rent!)
