A question to all the sactimonious no smokers. How will you feel when you have to pay more taxes to compensate for the loss in revenue from smokers who are being forced to cut down.

Got to go out now, wifes just lit a fag, gasp aaaarrrgh
Im fed up with being told what is good or bad for me, I'm going to start smoking on the 1st July.
I think you are going to find it hard to quit if your wife smokes doc.

puss, no one is telling you you cannot smoke, you are just giving non smokers and young children the option of been able to breath properly, you can of course poison yourself in you own house, at your own expense

Hi netz, not sure if you can call smokers selfish. The encouragement and advertising during previous decades was pretty prolific. The govt was quick too catch on with heavy taxation. I know its not healthy but what about leaded petrol and cfc's. Banned now but still in the atmosphere.

Made up me mind to stop cazz. Wife is moderate smoker. No probs with that. She doesnt smoke in public though.
Question Author
I apologise for the word sanctimonious, everyones opinion is respected.
I wish you luck, most couples I know where one quits always end up smoking again because the temptation is all around
Question Author
thanks cazz , I am determined, my morning cough was bad and quite an embarrassment.
Question Author
I now spend my money on rum n coke. Love it. I have got one now, no I am not ashamed.
I hope you do it!!!, I quit 10 years ago and have never looked back, I feel healthier than ever, my partner also quit at the same time he is one of the anti smoking brigade!!!!

on the plus side you havnt got that niggly "sorry I need a fag break" moment
Question Author
I did stop for 9 years but started 6 years ago. This time for good. Might start again when 90 yrs old. (28 to go)
wow, why did you start again???
Question Author
A friend of mine started a kareoko night and did the M C bit. My wife and I would support him with the odd song to get things going. He would light a fag and put in in the ashtray whilst he was on the mike. I would see this as a waste and finish it off. Got hooked again, dope that I was..
its amazing how simple it is to get hooked in again, I had a lot of cravings for years after I quit, nowadays I dont get them anymore, I think the way smoking is treated it isnt worth smoking anymore, Im glad I quit now, stick with it this time!
Question Author
You see cazz , you have both smoked so you know what it is like to stop. Hard isnt it. I know lots of people who have never smoked, namely my sister, and she cant understand the attraction of fags. I would like to smoke 2 or 3 per day but I cant, its all or nothing so it has to be nothing.
Question Author
thanks for the chat cazz, very enjoyable.
I gave up the fags 21 years ago and I must admit, ex smokers are the worst! I cant bear the smell of smoke or an ashtray full of fag ends. My hubby's tried twice to give up but could'nt do it. He rolls his own as it works out cheaper and he only smokes in our little side room or in the garden. I dont miss not smoking one bit and my Grandad who smoked from the age of 11 and literally smoked old rope at sea lived till he was 92 with no sign of lung or any other form of cancer as did my Dad who died at the age of 74. Makes you think!
Question Author
Hi fran , you are right , it does, ask your fella to roll one for me.Only kidding.
Well, at least when i gasp and/or hyperventilate with the shock - it will be with cleaner fresher air!!
I live in Wales, so we already know what it`s like. I have n`t cut down at all nor have any other smokers I know. It does really annoy me though that us"lepers" get blamed for everything. Nobody does anything about the drunks that puke up everywhere & end up in a&e cos of fighting, alcohol poisioning etc. BTW why isn`t the Houses of Parliament a no smoking area????
