Hi, I'm looking for tried and tested, sure fire creams that work effectively to decrease the appearance of scars. Have some which I'd rather weren't there, they're healed but still red in colour, and i was wondering if anyone knew any healing treatments, preferably not too pricey, or any other methods that work?
Many thanks to all

The only thing I can think of is that Bio Oil, sorry havent tried it but might be worth a look, I guess it depends on what type of scars they are.

good luck

There was a consumer test done on How to look good naked re these creams. Bio Oil was 2nd. I can`t recall the name of the winner, but if you check out the website for Channel you should find the info there.
Oh also I forgot, maybe calendula oil/serum (sp), that might work too, think it is a homoepathic remedy.
hugs&kisses what type of scars are they? sorry do not mean to be noisey but different scars have differernt effects, i personally have a 12" scar from operations, this will never be remedied other than by plastic surgery but I have grown to accept that, how bad are they and where are they?
hi H&K... i've tried and tested BIO OIL. I have various scars on my arms & hands due to burns and the Bio Oil certainly has reduced the redness of them, they are quite faint and not so prominant now. It cost about 8-9 for a smallish bottle but you do only need a very small quantity to rub in each time, it took me about 10-14 days to start to notice a considerable different in the redness of scars (which i'd had for a good few years). Make sure you apply according to the instruction on the bottle and be a little patient, its not a miracle worker. I would recommend it. But like warpig said it may depend on the type of scar you have, as to how good this product is. Good luck.
The winner from How To Look Good Naked was Palmer's Cocoa Butter

will try all products listed here, thank you.
have one scar on my hip which is about 2-3 inches in length and 1/4 inch thick; and a couple on my arms, thinner but would just rather get rid of them, i knw nothing is a permanent fix but anythnig to make them less noticeable is fine!
You can buy scar reduction patches. Most big chemists sell them. A friend of mine has a really nasty scar on her arm and they have made a positive difference to the look of it.
I had appendicitis last July and it left me with a large approx 5 inch scar. I used Neutrogena scar reducing oil and all I have left is a pale silvery line. Definately worth a try and it wasn't too expensive.

Pretty much all bio oil is, is vitamin E oil. Buy a bottle of vit e caps. Pop them and rub them on your skin. It works absolute wonders on scars and burns and even eczema. My daughters eczema was so bad it was infected when she was a teeny baby and we tried every steriod and emolioent known to man and science. Vit E sorted it out a treat.

Hope you get it sorted.

Dermatix Gel is very very effective but about £25 for 15g. I had a burn on my leg and it got rid of all the redness and shininess after Bio Oil failed.
