I would have thought a chef's wage was marginally better than some jobs..
im 42.still plenty opportunities for someone even your age lol.im bad hmmmm
most chefs jobs are poorly paid and un social hours, weekends and evenings....

ever thought of getting a live in job somewhere else, it might make a change, and see what you really have
you just naughty legend.......lol
I have 2 friends who have opted out. One sold up and went to live in Spain with her hubby and kids. They are still there. The other left Devon and now lives in the south of France doing permaculture- living off the land. Heathersweat- what would you do if you had the choice? Ideal scenario?
hi curly.you slipped over here from bc lol???
my dad barely gets minimum wage, he is 64 and has a mortgage to pay, he manages to pay his bills and afford to run a car.

sorry heather a bit off topic....

just sneaked in legend...lol
I also have friends who "retired" at 19. They now busk for a living and sign on. But basically they are crusties. Hippies.

if i had the choice i am not a great fan of the overseas, sain doesnt do it for me , i have great personality and it hasnt been used to its best advantage, methinks working as a tour guide or similar, something totally wacky, so you could say to peeps this is what i do
Do you have a mortgage? maybe you need to either remortgage and get a better deal so you can have some quality of life, or sell up and downsize for the same reason. Or look into equity release?
So contact the tour companies- Thompson etc or look online and offer to work for them. Look into Tourism jobs.
you asked for an alternative.i gve you one.

miss scarlett you are to sensible, no i rent there you go cant afford one, dont want to be a bloody chef hate cooking for people so bleeping selfish,.its not my job i am a support worker now, it the f.......king cost of living
If you're not keen on oversees why not look at UK holiday resorts, even somewhere like Butlins! You could be a Redcoat! There is a programme on one of the Sky channels called "Redcoats". Watch it and see if you think you would like to do that!

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, my god i am intelligent as well as outgoing does that mean i have to be the oldest f...........king redcoat in town look outside the box
It's tricky... I guess looking at your outgoings and making them less is the only way of changing it. Unless you rent somewhere cheaper, sub-let, or move somewhere cheaper- a different town? Or could you geta promotion at work to give you more dosh?
Heathersweat... I give up. You are clearly just in a really bad mood. I am trying to help and give suggestions and you are just coming back with swearing and anger. Sort your own life out.
you have to be realistic though scarlett, there are thousands of people queuing to be reps and redcoats, some of these types of jobs dont pay very well either, there will still be rent/bills to pay
