I hurt my right hand whilst playing football 2 weeks ago. It's right in the knuckle where the little finger meets the hand. At first, i thought i'd dislocated it but i went to casualty and an x-ray ruled that, and any fracure out of the equasion.

But 2 weeks later, i'm still in absolute agony and the area is still very swollen. I haven't strapped it up as i was advised not to by the nurse.

How long would you wait before going to the doctors. I really don't want to waste his time with a fairly trivial matter but if the pain keeps on, i can't see any other alternative.

Shall i give it another week ?

Not if your in agony no!
Get yourself to the docs ASAP.
I would ask for another X-Ray, I think you may have fractured it,if it was bruising it would be ok now, get to the Drs as soon as you can, that is not normal.
Well i injured by thumb snowboarding 3 weeks ago and is still a bit swollen but not in any way painful except if i put undue pressure on it and even im considering a visit to the docs.

So in your case i think you should get right down there!
You really should have your hand checked again asap. Sometimes an x-ray will not clearly show a hairline fracture, but it can still be there and cause a lot of pain. My Mum fractured her upper arm quite badly two years ago and it was completely missed by the head of orthopaedics, who told her that she had a minor crack in the bone that would heal within 3 weeks. Nearly a year of pain later another consultant looked at the x-rays and told us his boss had missed a major fracture - one that even I could see on the x-ray when given the chance. So, mistakes are made. Please get your hand checked out again asap. Best wishes. :o).
