My mum just burnt her foot by dropping a tray of hot food from the oven. It has blistered a little. What is the best thing to put on it?

run it under cold water for at least 30 mins
If it still looks bad get her to the hospital asap, better safe than sorry.

hope she OK
RATTER thought you were at the pub with the girls following your difficult day !!!!!!!!
Bag of frozen peas need to cool it as much as possible. Wrap in a clean cloth
No crete to noisy, you know what that lot is like lol.

not a difficult day just a little frustrating.

I have also been busy in my workshop making a nice metal pub sign, so not a totally wasted day.
Please be careful with wrapping blistered feet in cloths as these can stick to the burns and tear the skin off when removed. Cooling the feet with water in the first instance is a better option, prefereably for 20 minutes. If you are unsure what is the right thing to do, call NHS DIRECT on 0845 4647 where you can talk directly to a nurse or if necessary a doctor. They will advise you on what to put on her feet and also whether or not your Mum needs to go to A&E (hospital). Hope your Mum is better soon. Take care.
Hi Ratter, nice to see you're ok. Hi crete. Couldn't face the pub ... was exhausted after all that banter 124 replies in two hours and two minutes ... not bad eh?
oh , is someone avin a friggin laugh?!?!

What food , liquid or solid ?

Burns aint funny!
joby no one said burns were funny.
When I was doing my first-aid-at-work training with the St John Ambulance, they told us that the only thing you should do with a burn such as that is run it under cold water for AT LEAST 10 minutes, and then get the person to hospital. We were told that you should never put any creams or lotions on the burn prior to seeking the advice of the pros.
ok i've done this before many times, just applied ice to the area, then got myself up the hosp for a check up asap

The next step is to stop the burning process. Any clothing that is not stuck to the burn should be carefully removed. The affected body surface areas should then be flooded with cold water until medical help, if necessary, is available.

The skin usually swells after a burn so it is important to remove anything constricting such as jewellery.

Do not attempt to burst any blisters that form on burnt skin

err sorry just read that back sounds like i'm an expert i'm not just have worked in kitchens a lot and have got used to this happening
crete's advice is good, hold it under running water. Not sure if it has to be 30 minutes, I was always told 20. But it's presumably a bit late for that now, that's what you should do straightaway...next time

She's ok - has soaked it in cold water and put a little aloe vera on it. Two blisters on it but she won't listen to me and get medical advice. She says she is fine. She is a chef herself so I guess she knows what she's doing but she won't listen to me. I shall keep an eye on her and nag her down to the doctors if it gets worse
