I met him in the pub.
I live in Germany, and it's the only Irish pub in the town.
I used to go there with friends and colleagues.

Apparently he saw me a few times, and asked the landlady about me.
He never spoke to me, since I was always with other people.
When I was away for work for a while he got worried that he might not see me again and wrote me a letter, that he left in the pub.
At first I thought it was a joke, but the landlady told me, that he was a nice guy, so I gave him a call.

Now, over five years later we are married and have a 10 week old son.
We both worked at the same place but she was based at a different site. We were both working on similar projects and got to hear about each other's work, so met up to swap notes. One of my first thoughts was that I liked her legs, one of hers (no it wasn't "is he staring at my legs?!") was that she liked my sense of humour. I wonder how much that says about what men and women look for!

Over the coming months we kept in touch re work and this turned into just enjoying staying in touch. Somehow, I honestly can't remember how or who came up with it, we went on a dinner date, and it really started from there. Next month will be the tenth anniversary of that!

So there wasn't any "chatting up" as such. In fact, I don't think I've ever chatted anyone up. Certainly not future partners - any time I've tried the chat-up thing it's never led anywhere, thank goodness.
In a nightclub! He was an old friend of the friend who I was with that night
He interviewed me for a job!! Needless to say I got the job,and 2 years later we are still together.
we were at uni togeather but we were not togeather at uni (although we worked on our dissatation togeather) At the graduation ball, which was probabily the last time we would have ever seen each other we got togeather.
We both worked in a nightclub - i was a DJ, she was a barmaid. I thought she was different because she enjoyed conversation outside the usual nonsense. We became good friends, then got together. Just ccelebrated 20 years of marriage.
I met Mr Hellion when I interviewed his girlfriend for a job, he came with her. She got the job and the three of us became friends, she later left him for someone else. A little later I finished with my boyfriend and, as Mr Hellion and I were on our own, we used to go to gigs together. After a couple of years of this we realised that neither of us had been looking for another partner so we decided to give a relationship a try, risky after 8 years of friendship! We've now been together 20 years, married for 14 of them!
Over a game of Monopoly (How romantic is that!!)

I'm friends with his sister, she was matchmaking, it was Xmas, I got invited over to her house for one of thoes long loungey xmas afternoons (the ones where you stuff yourself with Roses/Quality Streets, play board games and run outside - wolly scarves and hats on - when the kids spot a speckling of snow falling). He had no idea I was going to be there, I had no idea he was and unsurprisingly everyone else knew what was going on!!

I got there when they were already playing, I joined, there was a lot of eye contact over the table, the rest is history..... we're blisfully happy - shame we can't afford to buy Mayfair tho. x
He worked in my regular pub and i gave my number to a colleugue of his as he was off for 2 weeks (typical) he texted me and we swapped banter for 2 months, before we finally arranged our first date!
nearly 3 years later we live together and are expecting our baby anyday now!
Scary how many of us meet through work isnt it?

Like PinkFizz, I interviewed the future Mrs C for a job. Yes, she got the job and a bit later we got together. Ahhhhhh
At a festival between bands, he said to me "blum to thimblar wivme" I said pardon? he said "thim to tubar wivme" I said pardon?, "come to the bar with me" in a strong welsh accent.

I went with him, then the next time, then I felt the little sparkle. My sister had to translate between us for the rest of the weekend, but now I understand him fine.
I met mine at work I asked him to do phone cover then realised he was deaf. So i spent the rest of the day apologising to him by email. He thought it as hilarious, we struck up a friendship and got married in May.
I met my partener at High school we were in a few of the same class's but he lived quite far away from each other ,But as soon as we started going out he moved round the corner lucky me! we are still only young (21) but we have been together for over 6 yrs now.
I met Mrs Elvis in a pub...The first thing I said to her was...Do you want to come to a wedding with me next week.....when she asked who was getting married I said us.
Took me ages to pull her, but perseverance paid off, been together 14 years and married for 10
I was in a pub garden with my friend and he walked past with drinks. I looked at him as I was still talking to my friend and he thought I was talking to him. So then I struck up conversation by saying, "Press that button!".

He was baffled to say the least. It was a doorbell on the rear door of the enclosed pub garden and me and my friend had wondered if it was connected. What we failed to tell him was that we'd already tried it out and nothing happened!!

He hesitated for a second, but then decided to press it. So we knew he was game for a laugh. :o)
Oh, and I found out nearly a year later that he was meant to be going back to the barmaid's place that night! After we got talking he took a gamble and left the pub with me, later getting my number and confirming a dinner date.
Sainsburys!!!
I had seen her there a couple of times and we had exchanged smiles in the frozen food section once or twice but one evening i was just getting into my car when she parked right next to me, there were loads of spaces in the car park but she parked by me on purpose ( she admits this ) i said hello and asked her if she wanted my car park ticket, it still had 40 minutes on it ( generous or what? ) she said yes and then i said, and i can remember it as if it was yesterday not 7 years ago, " It will cost your phone number tho" she smiled, we got chatting and the rest is history! :)
Who says romance is dead!?
I was out with some friends in a pub and he was standing near us with his friends. He looked so lovely and smily that I REALLY wanted to get to talk to him. He bumped into me by accident and I gave him my most dazzling smile. It turns out that he IS lovely and we are still together and I'm bonkers about him :-)
I met him at school. He was at the boys school I was at the girls. He walked into a cafe we all went to and I thought he was gorgeous! I told a friend and she said 'NO!! His sisters are those three bullies at our school! So I avoided him for 6 years!
Bumped into him in a nightclub 7 years later, married him (been marrried 14 years now, had kids and now his 'bully' sisters are my friends!

His chat up line in the club:

'Do these disturb you' - while waving beer mats in front of my eyes....

Re-reading that - God! What a nutter!!! I want out!
Met at an arcade in Blackpool at 16.
Asked if she wanted to play two player pole position!
Spent 3 days together
Wrote to each other for 5 years
Met again at 21 and travelled to see each other every 5 weeks for 2 years

Married 13 years, everything very good.....................
