Hi Guys,

i have had a reaction to some strong deodorant that i have been using - my arm pit is very sore and red (almost like a burn/rash). i have been putting sudacream on it but it hasn't cleared up - any suggestions (as i am not sure when i will be able to get to see a dr) thanks :-) xx

is it an aerosol, as I had this and changed to Dove roll on for a little while. did the trick.
ooh, ouch, I don't know sorry. sudocrem is quite soothing but I always put aloe gel on any irritated or burnt skin I got-it's really cooling.
Any alcohol based deodorant will irritate it further. I suffered for a while, put nothing on til it pretty much cleared up. Got Dove instead and no more irritation. I now use Dove roll on all the time. Yeah yeah I'm a bloke but the smell is pretty neutral!
Bit of vaseline will relieve it in the meantime but can mess your clothes up!!

Thanks guys - i react you to things rather badly - i have forgotten the name of it as i threw it out but its a stronger than normal deodorant and was a roll on. It stung so bad that i just didnt bother using it on the other arm (thank god). Oh well i guess it may take time but its been over a week and still hurts - such fun :-)
Contact dermatitis - nasty stuff . . . . in future try a natural deodorant like the organic based products with no paraben - for male and female - here from SoOrganic, or one of the crystal doedorants bars. They use a crystallised salt of alum which doesn't block pores but does stop the growth of bacteria under the pits - the cause of any BO. Lots of makers. One is Crystal Spring - info here but you'll find these and others at a good 'whole food and health' store if you don't want to shop online.
Is it definitely a reaction to your deodorant? I had a fungal infection in my armpit this summer (mmm how sexy) it looked like a rash and was very red sore & itchy and had to get some cream from the doctor. Maybe you could go into a chemist or boots and ask the pharmacists advice if you cant get to the docs?

well as soon as i put the deodorant on it started burning and then went very red and burnt looking straight off. Although i have been doing a lot of exercise this week - so not sure if that has made it flare up a bit. I will have to wait to see a dr i guess - thanks for the replies :-)
Try Palmolive with Aloe Vera for sensitive skin. It is an aerosal, but it`s great. It`s also 24hour protection
was it driclor? i bet it was. it burns like a mofo but this is just it working. you have to use it very sparingly. i can't use it cos it hurts too much
