hey guys i want some opinions.18yrs ago i had a bad riding accident and have been 2 scared 2 get back into the saddle.3wks ago a stupid boy racer smashed head on into my bus.i suffered whiplash nothing too serious.thing is the police asked if i could drive back to where the bus and i r based with the comment it is just like getting straight back onto a horse after a fall.this has got me thinking and have been spending quite a lot of time with horses recently even to the point of going into a racehorses' stable with him and walking around him.do you think my brain and body is telling me the time is right and i should go for it or do you think i'm just being silly? i'm not a confident person and am scared of making an a#*e of myself.

It certainly sounds like it, what about just sitting on one in the stable to start with, and see how comfortable you are with that? good luck, Ray

Give it a go! You've got nothing to lose and I bet you will really enjoy it.

Talk to your doctor first - you do not want to aggravate the whiplash injury. He may suggest waiting another couple of months.

Go for it....btw...whos racehorse stables did you go to?
Just take it slow. Go somewhere where you can get on something little and gentle - like an old highland or something and see how it goes. Don't worry about making an arse of yourself, if you want to do it then just go for it. Good luck x
Give it a try by taking it in easy stages. Getting back on a horse again will probably do wonders for your self-confidence. Make sure somebody competent is with you when you do it and you'll be fine.
hi schumi, I too had a bad riding accident a few years back, where I fell off and my horse fell on top of me. It took me a good while to get back in the saddle. When I went to new Zealand a while back I was asked if I wanted to join my boss on a cattle drive, something came ovewr me and I just got back on like nothing happpened, and let me tell you the horses out there are wild! since then I have been getting more and more competant. I say just take the plunge and get back on, once you are back in the saddle it will feel like you have never been away from it. Good luck! x
Go for it schumi, I was thrown off at 13 and have been to scared to go back on, I also have panic attacks if a horse raises up onto its hind legs, but saying that I've promised myself a days riding in Nov if I can lose more weight, I'm v un confident but I hope that by going to a stables they'll have a plod along for me.
Good luck, and remember the good times on the horse, the feeling of riding and the happiness you felt
