Where are all the nice guys?

Me and my friend have both decided that we need to meet and make new friends as we are both so sick of the usual crowd of young annoying drunk guys in our town. The same old crowd that goes out at the weekend and the same old drunks you get trying to chat you up.

We want to meet older mature guys. Ones who aren't into a weekly p!ss up with the lads in the local club. But... apart from wine bars and the golf club we can't think of where to find these potentially perfect older mature men! Any ideas?

We have decided to go to some of the nice wine bars in the area and maybe to try and go on a day we know that the football is on. If they are in the wine bar and not watching the football then thats good enough for me! Lol

Steve - Its not the age really that bothers me but the immaturity that comes with most of the guys that age in my town. Fancy some salsa? :o)

Wardy - You won my heart along time ago hunny ;o)

Jon, Alright alright.. I will come with you. God.. its only a measly ticket from Ebay! Lol ;o)

Polly I know what you mean. I met a couple of them lately and wasn't until the end of the night you find out they are married! I met them in the pub but they sent wine to our table and seemed nice. Looks can be decieving.. damn!

Bob - I'm sure you aren't that bad.. Lol. What do you mean about the smoke?

Perhaps you need to start frequenting some completely different places. Going to evening classes to learn a new language perhaps? And if you join up a carpentry or car maintenance class there are bound to be more fellows than girls there. What about volunteering for one of your local charities - your library is bound to have details? They may also have details of Book Reading groups if yourenjoy reading. Possibly a lot of decent guys have given pubs and wine bars a miss these days because they've grown out of the weekly "p*ss up" stage, and settled down. Are you interested in politics? If you are, check out your local Young Conservatives, Young Socialists, Young Liberals, or join the Green Party and possibly meet up with some young people who take life more seriously.

the smoke = London

Wendy I am definately going to look into doing something. I just can't seem to decide what. I wouldn't mind dancing as I know that will be good for me too. I think I would rather do something active.

Ahhh ok Bob. I get it. Lol.

Jon - can I have those tickets please? It is my birthday on Sunday. Go on, they were nice and cheap!

Time for researching some completely different locations and activities I think.

  • Joining an evening class to learn a new language? Car maintenance classes and carpentry will probably have more men than women.

  • How about volunteering for a charity one night a week. Your local library will probably have details of local charities. If you like reading, they might also run a Book Reading group. See what's advertised on their notice board.

  • Are you interested in politics? Young Conservatives, Young Liberals, the Green Party all probably have younger groups who also organise social activities.

  • Look in your local paper to see if any local groups such as the Ramblers Association have regular meetings. Be prepared to try something different. Learn to play tennis, badminton. Join a drama group.

You'll probably find that all the mature guys have outgrown pubs and wine bars and have moved on to more interesting pursuits.

Isn't it funny that my 2 lads feel the same as you, wondering where all the decent girls are, my lads are 30 & 27 and both would love to settle down with the right girl sadly for them it hasn't happened yet,but one day the right one comes along, although it doesn't pan out like that for everyone does it!! good luck ruby, take care, Ray
Question Author

Wendy, they must be somewhere coz they aren't in the pubs and clubs. I wouldn't mind tennis. I would LOVE to join the drama group. Thats definately an option for me.

Ray - You don't fancy sending them my way do you? :o).. Seriously.

We are having a guy shortage in my area. They are all early 20 something immature, Lynx wearing, kn0bs with their shirts and their jeans and their shoes and their hair all over the place!

hey ruby...id love some salsa. But im in Hertfordshire so fair way away. There is a local group but im a bit loath to go along tis rather duanting!
Question Author
Steve - If my friend isn't up for salsa then I am happy to go alone. I think you would be more likely to meet people if you go alone. If you go with someone then you will just chat to them and not mingle aswell. If you go alone whats the worst that can happen? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. ;o)
indeed. cheers. tho we can all be very good at procrastination and negetive stuff tis hard to embark on new things but tis amazing how things can snowball when u start.
Question Author
Exactly Steve. It could be the best thing you ever do... or it could be boring. If thats the case then just don't bother but you won't know until you try.
Ruby will you marry me?
Well im in my 30s Ruby...but i like going on the beer and watchin footie...so that rules me out I suppose
Question Author

Wardy.. we are already married don't forget.. Lol... But again? Hmm. Ok ;o)

Zeus - You are ruled out I'm afraid.. Lol. I will call you 'Plan B'.. Lol

AHEM YOUNG LADY!??? so that's it is it?? That's me cast aside so soon?? PAH!

*Grabs drums and storms off*

Question Author
