Ok these are the rules.

Every time you've remember you are playing the game you lose..

So basically you can go for a year not thinking about playing the game, but if for some reason it comes into your head you have lost....

You keep your own score, and its basically just an interesting memory experiment, although once you start playing you will be playing forever...

I think its probably better when it is passed on orally but I'd be interested to know if anyone has heard of this game or anything similar before.

i think i have heard of some people playing this. when i was at college some months back some people were saying about a game like this and kept saying to each other 'i jsut lost the game' but i didnt really get it. now i kind of now what they meant. i always wondered what they were doing. where did this game start? have you any ideas?

I don't get it, it's impossible to not think about something, as soon as you think to yourself "I haven't really thought about 'the game' today" you're instantly thinking about it. Bit of a stupid game to me.

Missjef yes they were playing the game.... and I am trying to learn where it originated.. I was told about it (or should that be started playing) when i was living in NZ last year... So its obviously quite widely spread.. where was your college anyway?

I find it intreuging cos I go for long periods without thinking of it, then suddenly it just comes into my head... Like today, it was something triggered the memory, and then bish bosh bash, I've thought of the game about 5 times seperately today, and this particular time I was playing on AB, so i decided it was time to pass it on myself!!

Ace, that is the whole point!

basically you will forget all about the game for days months years whatever, then someday something will trigger your memory of the game, and you'll be like 'darn it, I lost the game!!' but then soon enough you will forget it again till next time.. I find that each time I remember it I have little clusters of losing the game where it is obviously at the surface of my memory, then it fades well away for another time...

sarwal - i went to college in york in england. i didnt really get the whole idea of the game, it seems like a bit of a silly game since you lose when you explain it to someone because automatically you're thinking about it!! i would find it frustrating if i was playing it. it would be intresting to find out where it originated from, maybe just word of mouth? i havent encountered anyone else playing it apart from the people at college though, expcept maybe one or two people.
