Devon Rex which is a curly hair breed isn't too bad, and the short hair breeds like some of the asians - balinese, tonkinese, siamese etc as well in fact a lot of the good British moggies - will shed less.

Good grooming will reduce shedding, and a good diet as well of course. Cats will loose some hair as its just what they do. Long hairs breeds have a more pronounced spring moult than short hair ones, but all cats will shed throughour the year as it is natures way.

I think you'll find that most animals with fur moult and shed hair. Longer haired cats obviously shed more. The average short haired moggie is probably the best breed, but don't go for a black cat if you have a cream carpet because your vacuum cleaner will rarely be in the cupboard!
Be aware however that if it's for allergy reasons that it's not genenrally the hair that is the problem but an excretion from the skin which is present even on bald breeds.

Thank you all. Not for allergies just because my friend hates it when they blanket your clothes and sofa with hairs and is considering getting one
