More sleep

As you get older do you find that you need more sleep? and if you dont get enough sleep do you find it so hard to get up in the morning.. and I mean hard! haha.. Tell me what you think please...


One more thing....... Is this a age thing or just something else?

Well I'm 61yr and now I need less sleep, but if I have a really late night, then a short nap in the afternoon is definitely needed. Also I do not drink alcohol anymore which may have some bearing on it.
I think when you are young (per teens) you don't need a great deal of sleep, during your teens you tend to sleep more because the body goes through changes which requires more rest, then during your 20's this subsides and you tend to sleep less, then as life starts to kick in it's physical exhaustion that makes us want to sleep more.

Older people, especially those who have retiered dont seem to need as much sleep.

I think it's a mix of age and the fact you are working hard.

Personally I'm not that bothered about sleeping that much, I just make do with what I get. I've never had a problem with getting up, I'm not saying I'm not sleepy when I get up but if it's time to get up I get up.
I find I can get by on 4 hrs. sleep, but I definitely need to have it, otherwise I am dozing sometime during the day.
I have about 5 hours sleep a night cant sleep before 2am and i'm up between 6 & 7 each morning!and i'm37.
Im 24 yrs old, and if I don't get at least 6 hours of sleep, Im a total wreck. The only way I feel rested is if I get 10 hours, but 6 means Im totally exhausted. I hate it though. My life always revolves around how much sleep I get, I don't talk about it with people ever but it gets so bad sometimes that I have fallen asleep at the wheel twice.
I'm 25 and I only average about 5 hours sleep a night, which is about sufficient. Though I can get through the day quite well with only 3/4 hours sleep. I'd

Did you all notice that the people in there 20's get less sleep but need more?? Im 26 and it wasnt until last year that I noticed if I dont get 6-8 hours of sleep, the next day Im a zombie.. or need caffine.. And about the older people needing less sleep.. my gramma only sleeps 4 hours a night at most.. and she is just fine with that.. And I noticed when I was a teen I could use a nap after school, at school haha.. anytime..

( teens are growing bodys-need LOTS of sleep) (20's are Busy bodys-need average sleep)(older folks have lernt a thing or two about how to concerve there energy-needs 4-6 hours sleep)


its medically accepted that as you get older you need less sleep..lol @ jennykins, i hear what you're saying, i need more - get less.. hang on are we still talking about sleep?!
