I have always wondered that myself, what a great question. But unfortunately I cant answer it.

Yes it is possible. A woman can tie a man up and the rape him.

apparently this crime occurs as regular as the the other. I read it years ago on the Times. The only reason why it is unheard of is becuase it is not reported as much as the other.

Definition of rape Section 1 Sexual Offences Act 1956 (Archbold, 20-5)

The offence applies to the rape of a woman or the rape of another man.

The offence of rape was restated in Section 142 of the Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994 to include anal sexual intercourse with another man without consent. Where anal intercourse takes place without consent, you should charge rape contrary to Section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 1956 and not ******* contrary to section 12 of that Act.

Following R v R [1992] A.C. 599 and the removal of the word unlawful from the definition of rape it is clear that a husband may be prosecuted for raping his wife.

A boy under 14 is now capable in law of sexual intercourse - Sexual Offences Act 1993, Sections 1 and 2 (Archbold 20-23).

As the law is gender specific (only a man can be a rapest then - no in the eyes of the law it is not possible for a women to rape a man though case law does indicate that a woman may be convicted as an aider and abettor.

the starred out word is bug gery (without the space obviously)

I cannot believe spaced meant that women rape, or sexually abuse men as often as men assault women in this manner. I'm biting my tongue and hoping you are from the planet Zog where reality is but a dream.
There was a coach driver years ago near to where I lived that was attacked, sexually assaulted raped by a whole group of women he was taking out on a hen night in a minibus ( they were all drunk I imagine). He was so traumatised that he moved and although it was talked about and even joked about!!! in the locality no-one dreamed of pressing charges aganst these women as for some reason it was considered amusing by most people even other men, so yeah it's sadly possible.
druslia try reading a good newspaper or a good site on the net where it states clearly that this is a fact. Not my words love! Trust me, I was shocked too when I read it. And no, i never visited Zog mate.

This is a fascinating subject and the rape of men is far more widespread than I had previously believed and I apologise to spaced.

However, it is still wrong to suggest the incidence of males being raped by females is comparable.

According to Amnesty International figures, 1 in 20 British women will be raped. (I can't find figures for men)

Figures gathered by the FBI suggest 1 in 33 adult men in the USA can expect to be assaulted, where rape is the intent. Of these attacks on men, 97-98% will be carried out by other men.

The website below gives some fascinating insights into the myths surrounding male rape, but please don't blame women for what is quite obviously a predominantly male on male crime.

1977 A mormon woman was had up for following a man over from USA to England and with a friend kidnapping him. She was a Member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints and was also at one time Miss Wyoming.

The man, Kirk Anderson, was drugged, tied down and "raped" by Mckinney, who was infatuated with him. Mckinney was arrested, skipped bail and went back to USA but was sentenced to one years imprisonment in England in her abscence.

Her famous quotation was that she would ski naked down Mount Everest with a carnation up her nose to be with Kirk.

The full story can be found on google under her name on the Trashfiction Web site.

Needless to say most of the men at that time considered him to be a bit of a wimp.

drusilla some of your facts are based on US info, and not the UK. I know it is hard to believe, but trust me I didnt read it in the Sun.
Come on spaced, time to put up some figures. I have been quite shocked by what I've discovered so far about male rape numbers, but none of the evidence I have found on UK, US, or Amnesty International sites backs up the claim that women rape men as frequently as men rape women. In fact 97% of all male rape is carried out by other males.
Is this some sort of competition? Do figures really matter, or is about men being the baddies again and nice women obviously can't be so abhorrant? Most men attacked by a woman in this way would never go to the police for fear of ridicule and shame.
Well from a physical point of view, the woman could, er, use an implement to b***er him - however as for traditional sex, surely the guy wouldn't be able to erm, get it up, in order for the act to take place?
Drusilla - 30 years ago there were no accurate figures for the number of cases of domestic abuse inflicted upon women. Today we have a better indication of the size of the problem but even now we have no idea of the scale for domestic abuse inflicted upon men because, to many people, the idea of such an occurrence is deemed ridiculous. This leads to the assumption that abuse of males does not happen, or at least does so infrequently.

Do you not think that statistics for "male rape by female" would follow a similar skewed conclusion?

What I think is "obvious" is that the number of cases of such a "rape" being reported and thus making the statistics is miniscule.

All rape is abominable, be it male against female, male on male, or female against male. However, when I hear men suggest the numbers of males being raped by females is equivalent to the number of females being raped by men, then yes, noxlumos, the figures do matter.

Maybe, the women of Darfur could protect themselves by getting in first and raping members of the Janjaweed. At least then, male politicians might actually do something about the systematic rape which is being used as a method of ethnic cleansing in this part of the world.

Do some of you really believe that all women report rapes because the police have improved their treatment of victims. Many women still do not report rape because the conviction rate has dropped dramatically in the past thirty years. This may be the result of the neanderthal thinking that suggests women who dress sexily, 'must really be asking for it', as was recently reported by a survey by Amnesty International.

I am also affronted by your suggestion that my feminism and defence of female rape victims is somehow an anti-male rant. That is exactly the type of casual mysogyny some men employ when a woman defends her viewpoint. You'll be suggesting next that I'm only doing so because it's my time of the month.

Get a grip, lads, all rape is atrocious, including female against male rape, but don't whinge about equal measures when the proportions indicate clearly that 98% of male rape is committed by males, and virtually all rape against females is committed by males.

Drusilla - what hypocrisy to complain of being labelled "anti male" and immediately follow it by employing the label "misogynistic".

If the police haven't improved their treatment of victims, as you assert, there would not be the numerous cases of false allegation of rape made against innocents.

Or do you believe that "clearly" such false allegations don't exist?
Yes but a man needs to be aroused to be raped by a woman where as a woman doesn't surely. Obviously there must be a technical definition of this.

Drusilla, your response is very rude and offensive. How dare you imply that I am a mysogynist? I am offended and my wife is offended at the suggestion. I have not attacked your feminism and I respect all women as my equals. You, however, do not seem able to accept that the incidence of male rape by women is probably in reality comparable. That's your mill stone to wear around your neck as you please. You show a total lack of understanding of the real world. Men do not report male rape for many reasons, not the least of which is the foolish assumptuion that they have "enjoyed it" or that they are in some way "less of a man" because it happened.

There are women in South Africa who are HIV positive and go around in gangs casually raping men with the intention of infecting them because another ( totally unrelated man!) infected them. As a member of Amnesty International I'd have thought you'd have been all too aware of that, as a member I certainly am.

You don't need me to point out your anti-male rant to people, you've managed that perfectly well on your own, and please don't tell me to "get a grip" when your own hold on reality is so tenuous.I don't consider men putting their view point forward as "whingeing", you don't have the monopoly on being the sex that's victimised.

I consider all rape to be an abhorrent crime against individuals, that's why numbers really don't matter. Male or female the victims are all people.

Bondy, Male arousal is well documented as being something which does not correlate necessarily to pleasure. The Nazi's conducted experiments on tortured and dying men who were still able to gain an erection and ejeculate.
