I've tried them. It's a funny feeling, not at all unpleasant, just weird. Yes it seemed to work (for a while anyway)

Sory above link does not take you directly to the page.

You can find it from there with a search.

Thanks for the responses - I have ordered them already, so I guess I am going to see what they're like for myself - quite scary what some websites say though about people burning their eardrums!

Nah, just remember, you're not meant to let them burn all the way down lol just about half way

ROFL, I have never heard of the method before - how stupid would you look sitting with smoke coming out of your lugs!! ROFL

Whatever happened to the good old cotton bud? (used with caution before anyone jumps on my case :p)

I have used them as I get otitis externa in my ear canal which builds a lot of pressure in them. I find it very relaxing and i find they stop me wanting to itch inside them for a lot longer than when i use some steroidal drops.
i have used them there great but i get my friend to help me as its a bit tricky on my own

Yes, will definately get my partner to help me...and agree Dakota it will look a little on the weird side. I must admit that currently I am a cotton bud addict - which is really bad because it just pushes the wax further in - nice.
I've had ear problems for many years, and have to had to have grommets (these are not just for kids) but now use Hopi ear candles on a monthly basis and all my symptoms have cleared up. I recommend them. Best wishes, Julia.

Thanks JuliaSix - good to hear that your symptoms have cleared up - looks as though you might need a new keyboard though!
