After suffering from the blow to my head I am now suffering from deep depression with headaches and worry. Also the lump whilst not as big is still there. Am suffering from extreme anxiety and definitely loss of more deafness.

I had to make a call two weeks ago to the audiology department re "everything" but I couldn't hear the options. Another friend is calling tomorrow to try and make an appointment tomorrow. The other neighbour/friend who done all has finally left and so I can't call on her. In fact she rang me last night to says she has had a fall in her daughter's house where she is currently residing.

Jesus I honestly don't know where I am at all.

I mentioned 111 because in my hour of need I couldn't get to see or even speak to a doctor. I never knew they had Mental health advisors available just by pressing another number.
We don't have 111 here but we do have out of hours doctors who I have availed of in the past and have been amazing
Each Trust region in Ulster has its own out-of-hours 'phone number and textphone number.

I do hope jj has seen all the very helpful responses.
No advice as such but just sending you a hug, and really hope you feel better soon xx
jj--you can get hearing aid tests in your own home now. The N.H.S. do them ( although not every area)and also some other companies like Specsavers. Why don't you get your friend to try and sort something out for you ?
JJ did your friend have any luck making you an appointment?

No all she got was automated voices. Even then she became very frustrated
Why don’t you take up RH’s kind offer JJ?
Then if I was you I'd take Redhelen up on her kind offer of help. The situation isn't going to get better on its own.
Did you see Corby's link at 11:17? That might be useful.
We can email our surgery if unable to make contact by telephone. I don't know whether you could do the same in your area?
Jenny, you sound in a bad place but you're lucky to have such a kind offer from RedHelen.
I know you like your independence but do take up her offer to get you back on those feet! :-)

Well I first answered on that tablet which I'm not good at typing on.

Anyway I want to tell you all that I really appreciate RedHelen's help but please understand I know she is from Scotland and I cannot understand the Scottish nor can I understand any dialect from England at all unless I can lipread them which through a phone you can't do.

I have one nephew and 2 nieces who live in Edinburgh and I refuse to talk to them on the phone - sister understands them a good bit better. Having said that said nephew and nieces understand too.

Regarding the Full Fibre saga last year which I do think has made me mentally ill too as I could not understand one English/Scottish/South of Ireland, North of England - literally nobody. My neighbour made about 70 calls from February to October to no avail as I didn't want the Full Fibre at all. I have special phones for the deaf which are great for amplification etc and although I didn't know at the time I knew the Full Fibre wouldn't work on these phones and I was right. I got through once to Belfast and I cried that day but sure it made no difference to that horrible saga.

My friend who also a very old work friend who came today of many years ago couldn't believe how my hearing has went down.

Many thanks RH and to all others who have tried to help.

My next move but whether it will be any good is to physically attend the hospital ie like a random walk-in but whether they take me I won't know until I go there.

The friend today has a daughter who has a father in law who is deaf and she is going to try and see if he has got a "direct line"to the adult audiology.

Hope the above explains some things to you.

I have an English accent and I am well spoken so you should be able to lip read.
I would make any calls for you.
But I fully understand.
Question Author
thank you - I did forget to mention that friend of today has offered to go with me to the hospital for that "random" appointment - and even then I told her no, what is the point.

thanks anyway RH
Jj, saying “what is the point” is indicative of your depression. Please accept any offers of support you get because they will be well-intentioned.
Hi Jennyjoan, I wish you all the best with getting support. There's nothing I can add that will help, that others haven't already said/suggested.

It's a shame they don't make decent speak to text software available for phones/tablets. My OH has some speak to text software running from our server that works really well. It's open source software too, which is great. We haven't made it accessible yet but it's something I think would be useful to folk in a similar situation to yours.

Any way, I just wanted to poke my head into the thread and wish you all the best. Depression is awful :(
JJ I seem to remember past instances when you have posted about medical complaints and so many ABers gave advice and help (particularly Redhelen) - it seems a bit unfair that, each time, you have an excuse for not accepting these offers and it begs the question why do you post in the first place? I can understand you may want to download your problems if you have no-one to speak to but you must be willing to accept offers of help - I guess Redhelen has a very clear voice and, if you were to meet her, I doubt there would be a problem with communication. Don't make excuses JJ - we all want what is best for you.x
