I'm talking to this guy from a dating site who says he is 20 stone and I just wondered would that be overweight in a man?

No. 20 stone is overweight - - in my opinion.

If he is tall he would have told you. If he is a fit, muscle bound man he would definitely tell you.

Ask him his waist size.

He is 5ft10
Very much so, even if he was 6' tall the most he should weigh to be in a healthy range is around 13 stone 10, doesn't mean he won't be a lovely person though.
I worked with someone of Ozzie's lot who was 6-3 and 22 stone, not an ounce of fat and one hell of an eye for sport. He had played pro Aussie football, could hit a golf ball a country mile, and a superb tennis and squash player that had had a few tennis games against Pat Cash and counted th Woodbridge brothers amongst his friends. Even though he was large, he was as fit as a fiddle.

The waist suggestion is a good one by the way.
at 5'10" that is too heavy !
His bmi is 40 which is getting close to the top of the obese range. Remember people often down play their weight when asked so 20 stone is almost certainly less than he actually weighs.
This man isn't bragging about his fitness and exercise regime, he's warning you that he is very fat
The incidence of sportsmen with that height / weight ratio is likely to be so far outside the norm as to be statistically insignificant. As I said it is very likely he weighs more than that . Especially if he is on a dating site he wants to improve his chances. But he may have lots of good characteristics and who knows what changes he may make in the future.
We can't help who we are attracted to, or the 'type' we go for so it is pointless meeting a fat blind date if you are repulsed by fat men.
It is a different scenario to meeting a person you are not attracted to socially or at work and getting to know them and then falling in love. It does happen, but not on blind dates or internet hookups
Almost certainly, unless you are talking to an extremely tall fellow. I was obese once, and hovered near the overweight/obese border for ages, and I was nowhere near 20 stone. There is a BMI equation which tells you if you want to estimate.
His BMI is 40, OG.
Oh 5'10", yeah definitely obese.
1ozzy, so many narrow-minded people about. ;o)
Sometime you meet someone who is so far outside your type but there is an instant connection regardless. It's happened to me a few times, and it can't be explained. I wouldn't write off someone until I had at least met them unless the communication we had before raised serious red flags... I had deal breakers... No smokers, no racists, and no mommy's boys, and bad manners.... Dave was a smoker, we worked round it too be gave up. Who he was was more important than what he was.
Good luck Abbeyleigh but be careful. You are not the most streetwise by the sound of things and there are predators in the water as it were.
Google ‘Nemani Nadalo’ rugby player. He’s not fat but he is 20 stone.
He is also 6'5" and a professional sportsman the bloke Abbeyleigh is talking about is only 5'10"and is highly unlikely to be an international rugby player.
Indeed, but some people seem to be arguing that 20 stone is fat no matter what their height.

20 Stone of flab is not healthy.
20 Stone of fitness is a different story.//

Not forgetting the the latter would have to maintained forever, muscle turns to fat if it isn’t , so I agree with Naomi
He's fat.
Great sense of humour though. :-)
