Just to let you know that it is now confirmed that my wife has interstitial cystitis and is being referred for pain management.
Although she is relieved it is nothing 'deadly' she was hoping it was something like stones that could be put right, rather than another ongoing syndrome that may have no end.

She thanks you and everyone else for the advice and friendly words. And so do I.

Ah, I think I might have mentioned IC but can't remember.

I'm glad you've got an answer in any case - I'm sorry it's just not something that can be easily cured. I'm sure I ready somewhere that you can make dietary modifications to limit any exacerbation. Tomatoes are a bad food for IC if my memory serves me correctly.
Hi Barry, I've had a couple of bouts of IC over the last couple of years. What I found helpful, was Buscapan. It's normally prescribed for IBS, it relaxes the bladder and definitely helps with the pain.
That's very useful to know, Patsy. I've never heard that one before.

A great relief barry, it could have been worse.
Now the other bit of bad news is that Interstitial Cystitis is not easily controlled.
Good news as a whole and thanks for the feedback.
Yes, it is Lcg. I was reading up on Buscapan and seen this information. I had some left over from an attack of IBS, so I tried it. ;-)

Thanks all, we will look in to Buscopan
Barry, good news and bad news I guess? Could have been so much worse but still a difficult condition to live with day to day.
Please give Mrs B my very best wishes, I have my fingers crossed for her that she finds something which will help one way or another x

Thank you, Vagus, that is very kind. She has been taking Buscopan for years on and off for IBS and has taken it recently for that and it hasn't helped the bladder pain.
She has other syndromes and it seems they are all interlinked in some way.

Thank you, all suggestions welcome. No idea when my wife will get to see the pain management person.
Good information, lcg.
Just read this :-

Taken at low doses, tricyclic antidepressants relax the bladder and interfere with the release of neurochemicals that can cause bladder pain and inflammation. They may also improve sleep. Amitriptyline is the medication most commonly prescribed for interstitial cystitis.
