It's now 'LGBTIQ+' (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer or questioning) groups, according to an article I've just read on the BBC web site.

What's the '+' mean, & what might be added next?

The + just means anything not included in the other letters: asexual, pansexual, gender fluid etc.

There used to be a very nice man here - gay - who took great exception to gay people being lumped in with all these various varieties - and unusually, for this place at least, he wouldn't automatically support them either. We could do with more of his honest common sense.
