You really need to seek medical advice if you are thinking of adding all this to your body!
Too little magnesium probably doesnt harm although may give you pins and needles.

Too much magnesium makes you probably drowsy and then *** up your kidneys, heart and nervous system and eventually kills you.

Just enough keeps you healthy....bones and your blood.
I found taking a one-a-day magnesium tablet ended years of night cramps in my legs.
One of its primary functions is promoting relaxation. It's also great for night-time leg cramps.
This article has a list of possible symptoms of too much magnesium...and by the looks of it, you'd have to take quite a bit. Most if not all supplements are in the daily recommended dosage. The most common side effect with some types of magnesium is loose stools. You can get magnesium in your diet with seeds like pumpkin and sunflower, spinach, and avocado.

RH - calm down please - I've no intention of buying all these products - as somebody posted - I buy these bloody things - take them for a week or two then they lie.

No I am using magnesium spray for my shoulders and so neighbour who uses it a lot due to being riddled with arthritis told me to try it on my back last night. The thing comes in a spray but I took the pump off and was able to rub it into the small of my back and I must say I don't feel so bad today. That's all. I'm not buying magnesium tablets. I don't have any money left
This is a long and technical article, Jennyjoan, but what it really comes down to is showing that expecting magnesium to be absorbed through one's skin is simply a non-starter:

I bought a magnesium spray. Used it once on my legs and they itched all day! Just saying.

If you do buy a supplement don't expect quick results!
I sometimes get leg cramps when trying to go to sleep at night. The minute the cramps start I now get up and take a magnesium capsule which guarantees the crushing pain will disappear in seconds. No idea why but it works for me and I see for Naomi.
Lottie.. the itching or as some call it,stinging, is said to be an indication that you are magnesium deficient.
For leg cramps I often find a few grains of Himalayan Sea salt stops them immediately...magnesium and potassium.
