Hi Bex,

To stop styes you just need to get more sleep, when you do get them just scrape them off with your nail. Dont worry about loosing lashes, you wont go bald.... you only ever need to worry if you get bald areas...

Perhaps you should go and see your optician too, for an eye health check. 20, but you only get 2 eyes, you might as well look after them!

You can get a small tube from a pharmacist called "Golden Eye Ointment" (available in the uk at least). Works a treat for me ?

bex, do you use mascara? If so, throw it away. Eye make up can be a source of infection.

Styes have little to do with lack of sleep and a lot more to do with infection and possibly poor nutrition. Make sure you eat healthily, avoid make up if possible, but if you MUST use it then go for hypo allergenic make up and keep your make up applicators scrupulously clean.

If they don't clear up soon, go see your GP.

Thanks for all of the advice - I've just bought an anti allergenic mascara, and try to give my eyes a break every other day from makeup, those are my 'piggy' days!

My daughter has a tendacy to get styes with frightening regularity. At one point she had two at the same time on the same eye!

Our doctor recommended that I try giving her a probiotic drink & vitamins to help boost her immune system over a year ago. Since taking them she has not had anymore styes (yet).

you get styes because an infection has got into the follicles of your eyelashes. to get rid of them just use cotton wool soaked with warm water and hold it on the stye for a few minutes, you can do this as often as you like, I usually just do it twice as soon as I get a stye and they disappear within a day
People tend to get styes when they are generally run down. You are probably lacking in a vitamin. My advice would be to take a good multi-vitamin\mineral supplement (including folic acid as it is good for hair growth) I would recommend distilled Witch Hazel which is great for the eyes, it is a great skin toner too! You can buy it in superdrug for about a 1.
