Well, she's had a stroke, cancer and a kidney transplant in recent years, at 81 and contented with life retiring from performing seems logical.

She was hardly mature when I first encountered her talents (Nutbush City Limits/River Deep and Mountain High), but I take your point.

Just watching a video, and was reminded I always wanted to be one of her dancers. It looked such fun...

She's an absolute superstar and didn't really become one until she was nearing 50. An amazing woman. I watched the Sky documentary on her today, can thoroughly recommend it if you have a couple of hours to spare.
