Yes I know I’m accident prone, but ever since I slipped on the stairs two days ago and fell directly backwards, crashing down directly on my back onto a hardwood floor, I’ve been in incredible pain. I can barely move without shouting out in pain. Mr smow has even had to help turn me over in bed as I just can’t do it on my own. I can hardly walk or even sit up. Am dosed up with painkillers. Doctor isn’t seeing anyone and all they would say to do it to go to A & E, but there is no way I can sit on a hard chair there for hours.
So, what would really be best treatment at home? Heat or ice?? I’ve tried getting a hot bath, with great difficulty, but it didn’t help at all.
Any advice much much appreciated, or anything I can try xx

Omg this could last for weeks??
It could but it probably won't, Smow.
Your always in great distress for some reason or another.
This painful reaction is due to muscular spasm and may last for a day or so and in your case, probably a week or so.
It matters not one jot whether you apply heat or cold.
Take a full dose of any Nsaid, e.g Ibuprofen or Naproxen and try to move around if at all possible, but if not sit comfortably in a chair.

I’ve got both soluble and tablet ibuprofen here
Whatever......you minimum dose should be 400mgms every 6 hours at least with food if possible.
I had coccydynia many years ago blimey it dragged on and hurt (sorry smow) I looked into treatment then (we were in the US, we had decent insurance but it would have meant finding a doctor and so on) and then the advice was either to use the analgesia of choice, use heat or cold on the painful area, according to preference and a ring cushion to take pressure off the coccyx. The medical option was steroid injections, described as of limited success and very painful, although this may have changed.
PS this assumes that you have infact got coccydynia and not a similar but different injury. Its my undersytanding that coccyx injuries are generally caused by landing in a sitting position and not flat on your back.

I don’t know if it’s incredibly severe bruising(even there isn’t a bruise to see which is v odd as I bruise so easily). I just know that’s the exact area where the pain is. I guess when I did fall backwards that area must have hit the floor first.
I fell down the stairs over a year ago and hit every step on the way down on my coccyx. I used pain killers, hot or cold treatment and a ring cushion. The first 8 weeks were the worst but even now it is painful at times.
Question Author
I’ll have to try and get one of those cushions I think. Just cannot believe how painful it is. X
I went to sit on the floor a while back...cushion against sofa, cushion on floor. I missed the floor cushion and landed with a mighty thud. I was quite uncomfortable for at least 3 weeks.
Pain relief and a heating pad* helped.

*everyone should have one

Yup that's how I did it, hard soled hiking boots on a polished wood staircase.

Lucky you didn’t break anything!
I was in a lot of discomfort with Cocxyx pain, after giving birth to my 3rd child. Couldn't stand up after sitting down, (without shouting out in pain) I had to sit on a foam ring for a few months. Took about a year in all to feel better.
Hope yours settles down soon, Smow.

Have just ordered what’s called a coccyx ring cushion on Amazon - it will be here tomorrow x
It goes on for months.

I injured mine quite badly a few years back. Very badly actually. Had an accident a few weeks ago and it's awful. Everything takes me ages. I can barely load/unload the dishwasher or washing machine. I have to vacuum sitting down, thank God for the Shark.
